Interesting article! I hadn’t thought about these issues in exactly this way. We each have a responsibility to heal ourselves and release our baggage. This is one of the ways of turning things around.

“I know that people are exhausted of the state of the world, especially those who have been fighting the longest and hardest, but I’m talking about the very heart of the issues that allowed America’s current government administration to do all that they are doing, and with the issues that affect us globally it won’t just be Americans who are in trouble, but the rest of the entire planet. Climate change alone has become a huge part of this, and it will literally kill us all if we don’t do something. We have 10-15 years left to be able to do anything about it. Toxic Christianity won’t care because toxic Christianity wants to usher in the end times and bring back Jesus. Toxic Christianity doesn’t think women should have rights let alone vote. Toxic Christianity only likes white people, heterosexuals, and cis men. The rest of us are deemed unworthy, unacceptable, and less than human.”

Karma

“Karma is not properly understood.
All of us have karma to work out. Karma is what we earn during our living. It is often thought of as some sort of equalizing force between good and evil. For example, it is wrongly believed that if one does a good thing a good thing will happen to them. Likewise, if one were to do an evil thing. It is often confused as an overbearing mother that spanks a badly-behaved child, and the things which lead to “bad karma” are often confused by the concept of sins.
About sins, I just have one thing to say about them in the Christian sense of the word. You are not punished for your sins: You are punished BY them. If you engage in activities which are alien to your own True Will and purpose, expect some blow-back. It is no more difficult to understand than that.
A person’s karma is equal to a person’s work in the world. In fact, Karma Yoga is the yoga of action. Nothing more. But Karma Yoga will only provide partial fulfillment. It is a means to an end, but not the end itself. In the Order of Thelemic Knights, we perform three yogas simultaneously. We have had to Westernize these in order to make them possible to reap benefits from them in our every day lives. They are, what we consider to be, the Grand Trifecta: Karma Yoga, Jnana Yoga, and Bhakti Yoga.
The first, Karma Yoga has already been explained. This is the yoga that we perform in order to make ripples in the universe in accordance to our individual Wills.
Jnana Yoga is the path of knowledge, or if you prefer, self-realization. Not to be confused with Raja Yoga which IS an end unto itself, and the purpose of all the other yogas.
Bhakti Yoga is the path of service and devotion, usually to a God or deity. In the Thelemic sense this translates into devotion toward ones Holy Guardian Angel.
The goal of these yogas is to achieve a method by which to practice Raja Yoga, which is considered “The Royal Yoga,” since it leads to the Ultimate Union. In modern days it has been defined rather profanely. For more on Raja Yoga and how it can be achieved, we recommend the Hatha Yoga Pradipika.
So, what does this have to do with mountains? They are our karma. These are mountains we must climb. Things that must be achieved to restore balance. In Christianity, the term in “we all have our cross to bear” is used to convey their paradigm. For Thelemic Knights we refer to these obstacles as campaigns, but it is really all the same thing. I am using the term mountains today because it has no religious connotation.
Here is what I have learned about climbing mountains. Sometimes, when climbing a mountain that seems insurmountable it may be easier to climb in the dark. This is a way to trick oneself into making the journey less difficult, since we cannot see the plateau in the dark, we are unable to see how far we must go. It is frightening and uncomfortable, but I promise you that if you are indeed doing the Work, you will not be alone in that darkness.
Also, there will be others climbing those mountains at the same time as you, for varying reasons specific to their own karma. Help one another. No one says you must climb these mountains alone, and perhaps helping some one might help you both reach that mountain top, especially if it is part of your karma to do so.

If things get unbearably difficult remember this: every journey has an end. You will eventually reach your goal, but there will always be another mountain.”

Aries New Moon Horoscopes

img_0536

New Moon in Aries TODAY at 1:50am. Aries is the first sign and rules the head. We are starting a brand new astrological year today; courage, creative inspiration, leadership and persistence are all highlighted in April. Let the spark of your soul expand and express itself.

Several planets are in a great position until April 19th! All of us can make real progress on important projects and plans. Take steady action on your dreams. Things will be getting tense at the end of April with Jupiter and Saturn going retrograde until August, so use today to spur you to action. Also, in June there will be a BIG, tense standoff between Mars in Cancer opposing Saturn and Pluto. NOW is the time.

The horoscopes below are written from the perspective of rising signs, but there are threads of meaning if you read for your Sun sign too. If you don’t know your rising sign, or ascendant, you can plug in your birth information here to find it.

Aries rising – New Moon in Aries today! Your ruler, Mars, is traveling through Gemini right now, making you strategic in your ambitions. Your dreams are achieved through communication with your social circle, so get out and network in your community. With Mars in Gemini, your brain is super-charged with passion and drive, so express it for all to see.

Taurus rising – You have an EXCELLENT Spring ahead of you! Your ruling planet, Venus, has moved into Pisces, which is her natural home. Venus expresses herself easily though Pisces (exalted), and this makes Taurus’s life flow smoothly. In fact, every sign is feeling this enhancement in matters of relationships, art, beauty, love and socializing.
Projects or jobs started now will make  good money down the road. Most important is for Taurus to live in reality and the truth.

Gemini rising – In a word, ACTION. With Mars in your sign it’s time for you to be self-propelled and decisive – which is challenging for a Gemini. It’s no longer enough to spin around in your head about things you want to do, you need to make a plan and stick to it. If you can do this, and stay in your truth, your life will positively expand. The universe is helping you do that for the next couple of months.

Cancer Rising – You are benefitted by the North Node (good luck and destiny) in Cancer for the next year or so. Fertility, creativity and vulnerability are all qualities that each sign can aspire to this year. The New Moon in Aries today is giving you a kick start towards fully expressing yourself without limits or judgement.

Leo Rising – The New Moon in Aries, Jupiter in Sagittarius, and your ruler the Sun (exalted in Aries) are all sending you some lovely, fresh energy to get your passions rolling out to the public. You are probably feeling some sparkly energy and excitement this month. Aries is asking you to get started on the dreams you’ve been sitting on all winter.

Virgo rising – Ugh. OK well things aren’t too bad, but you’re feeling a little untethered to the Earth. Your ruler, Mercury is still slogging through Pisces (detriment). Mercury doesn’t really dig being there, it’s too dreamy and unfocused. I advise to work on embracing your visions for the future, and network your future potential with other people. Mercury will be in Aries soon (in two weeks), and you will be ready to start taking real action.

Libra rising – The New Moon in Aries is supercharging your partnership sector – which includes lovers AND biz associates. It’s a difficult time to pin them down on anything because there’s so much energy in the air, but Mars in Gemini is a good mediator. Progress can be made by having a plan and talking it out.

Scorpio rising – Your svengali-type characteristics are currently super-charged with your ruler, Mars, abiding in Gemini. You are the great mastermind behind everything in your arena. That New Moon in Aries is motivating you to take action on things near and dear to your soul. It’s all about focusing that razor-sharp mind of yours towards daily goals.

Sagittarius rising – You value truth, honor and integrity, and Jupiter in it’s natural home in Sagittarius (exalted) is inspiring you with new philosophies about your identity. You’re feeling at home and centered with the new expansion of your world that started last December. The only issue right now is that things might come TOO easily. Remember to challenge yourself with things that you want but are not firmly in your grasp. Also, try not to gain too much weight. Jupiter in Sag increases everything, even your waistline.

Capricorn rising — You are currently expunging and purifying your past with Saturn, Pluto, and the North Node traveling together in Capricorn. At least Saturn (your ruler) is giving you tremendous stability and support! Saturn in Capricorn is in it’s rulership, and it’s energies of discipline, concentration, responsibility, ambition and focus are easily accessed. There might be some big challenges you’re facing; the only way forward is to evolve. The universe is asking you to release any unhealthy motivations around power and control, and to move towards vulnerability.

Are you standing up for yourself? Who has power over you? Who do you let have power over you? Saturn and Pluto this year are also revealing what we’re still holding onto that we can’t hold onto anymore.

Aquarius rising – Mars in Gemini is sending you some wonderful, fresh energy in your Creativity sector. Aim high and take action on bringing your Aquarius visions down to the earth plane. Your Spring is about socializing and networking your creativity ideas to your peers. If you’re able to do this you will experience positive movement.

Pisces Rising – Neptune (your ruler) in Pisces has you floating like a cloud while using your intuition to gain movement. Meanwhile, Jupiter squaring Pisces is keeping you grounded by offering up new philosophies about your identity. The Aries New Moon is keeping you focused on your spiritual beliefs – this is the way to illuminate the steps you must take to stay on your path.

Tarot artist, Pamela Coleman Smith

The Ryder-Waite-Smith deck was the deck I used to learn how to read tarot cards, and I think it remains as one of the clearest oracles available. The woman who initially painted the beautiful images on these cards, was Pamela Coleman Smith. She was a true free spirit, and highly talented artist. Here’s a fantastic new article about her life:

Pamela Colman “Pixie” Smith circa 1912
Iconic image from the Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot that dates to 1909I never knew much about Pixie except that she was British and had died in obscurity; she never realized any financial security or status from illustrating one of the most popular items of printed ephemera in the world. This is largely due to the fact that the RWS Tarot was not widely distributed until circa 1970 when it was acquired by Stuart Kaplan of U.S. Games Systems, twenty years after Pixie’s death in 1951. In my news-feed last fall, I saw Tarot maven Mary Greer mention that she had collaborated on an in-depth biography of Pixie with Kaplan and some other writers. “Why not?” I thought. “Why not learn about one of the most influential artists in the Tarot tradition?”

Love it or hate it, the RWS Tarot defines what most people think of whenever the subject of Tarot cards comes up. Non-specialists may not be aware that the RWS had many historical predecessors and some noble competitors in its day. For the reason of its mass popularity alone, the RWS Tarot merits our interest and respect. When I was picking out an artist for The American Renaissance Tarot, I had Pixie’s straightforward illustrations strongly in mind. The modern trend in Tarot seems to be heavily embroidered fantasy-scapes, and yet Pixie’s bold outlines of figures in theatrical poses, set against two-dimensional backdrops, conveys the Tarot’s archetypes in a decidedly pure and direct manner. ”

Full Moon in Virgo

18033145_1325840417495188_1816042055207067062_n

Romaine Brooks (American painter) 1874 – 1970 Femme avec des Fleurs (The Woman with Flowers, aka Spring), 1912 oil on canvas collection Lucile +Audouy, Paris, France

Sun in Pisces (Feb. 18th at 3:04pm Pacific)
Full Moon in Virgo today at 7:54am Pacific
Mercury in Pisces (weakened, in it’s Fall)
Mars in Taurus (neutral influence)
Venus in Capricorn (weakened)

Don’t do any Mercury or Venus magick for the next several weeks. Focus on Jupiter (in Sagittarius) and Saturn (in Capricorn) which are very strong.

Monday, February 18th: Sun into Pisces and Saturn conjunct Venus (yikes). The focus for the next month will be on spirituality, music, dreams, escapism, movies and art. The lines are blurred and it’s a confusing time, because Pisces believes “all is one”. However, there are two roads – one is connection with divinity and the other is substance abuse. Don’t fool yourself into thinking they are the same road. Focus on the middle path.
Venus conjunct Saturn today is hella rough on relationships. Not the day to process or work through issues. Try to keep responsibilities and discipline active.

Tuesday, February 19th: Full Moon at 0 Virgo. Any aspects to your chart at 0 Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces will be magnified! Great day to organize your house, or anything really! However, Virgo’s ruler, Mercury, is currently in it’s Fall (icky place) in Pisces, so communications are unclear and goals are fuzzy. This will be continuing for several weeks because Mercury will be retrograding in Pisces early next month. Being of service and focusing on healing is the best way to navigate this hazy time.

Mercury entering Pisces until April 16th. Mercury in its Fall means the sharpness of our minds is diminished, and we turn towards our imaginations. The next month is a time for visioning, self expression and creative writing. Careful not to go too far out into fantasy and delusion! Keep the ground under your feet.

Wednesday, Feb. 20th: Full Moon in Virgo still active. Attend to healing, responsibilities and service. The abstract quality of Pisces/Neptune/water must come into balance with the actuality and detail of Virgo.

Thursday, Feb. 21st: Moon in Libra. Negotiations highlighted. Opportunities for love, romance and art.

Friday, Feb. 22nd: Moon in Libra. The energy of romance and understanding is still with us today. Good evening for socializing. Venus conjunct Pluto in the evening brings depth and intensity, and a chance for rebirth, healing and catharsis.

Saturday, Feb. 23rd: Moon in Scorpio. Lots of intensity today, with Mars opposing the Moon. Avoid confrontation but embrace rebirth.

Monday, Feb. 4th: New Moon in Aquarius at 1:04pm Pacific.

Currently:
Mercury and Lilith in Aquarius (strong)
Venus in Capricorn (diminished)
Mars in Aries, close to Uranus (strong)
Jupiter in Sagittarius (strong)
Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn (strong)
North Node in Cancer

Monday, Feb. 4: New Moon in Aquarius – new beginnings for the next month. We are refreshed! The goals you set today will come to fruition this August. Think about networking, the groups you are involved with, and the gains you’d like to make. Set goals around activating and expressing your personal form of genius. Everyone has something they can do REALLY well. Let your originality and unique nature shine.

Aquarius means: freedom, vision, independence, the FUTURE, eccentricity, social circle, original ideas, technology, the intellectual, the humanitarian, the big picture and the community. It is the sharpened mind in touch with higher frequencies.

Tuesday, Feb. 5: Lots of good, fresh energy can be accessed early on, but prepare for daydreams, intuitiveness and creativity as the Moon enters the watery dreaminess of Pisces at sunset. Good evening for spiritual or occult activities.

Wed. Feb 6: Float through dreams and visions today and let go of being overly productive. Stay cozy and spiritually connected. Try not to overindulge, or do it without the guilt 🙂 Negotiations could be hard to define, so do that tomorrow or Friday.

Thurs. Feb. 7: Moon square Jupiter today. Our minds are finding relief from the Pisces fog, as the Moon moves towards Aries. Jupiter helps you expand your habits towards reaching your goals. Focus today on where you’re headed, and put some energy towards it.

Friday, Feb. 8: Moon into Aries gives us some vitality! It’s on a direct intercept with Mars and Uranus though, which could lead to a combustible weekend. The Moon will be squaring Venus and Saturn in Capricorn today, giving everything the weight of REALITY. Not the best date night.

Saturday, Feb. 9: Moon trines Jupiter in Sagittarius today! We have a day of expansive moods and celebration. Might not get a lot done. This is a day for FUN.

Mercury entering Pisces until April 16th. This puts Mercury into its Fall – i.e. the sharpness of our minds is diminished, and we turn towards our imaginations. The next month is a time for visioning, self expression and creative writing. Careful not to go too far out into fantasy and delusion! Keep the ground under your feet.

Week of January 17th

harvestmoon2016

Sun in Capricorn, into Aquarius Sunday!
Mercury in Capricorn (weakened).
Venus in Sagittarius (neutral).
Mars in Aries (strong).
Jupiter in Sagittarius (strong).
Saturn in Capricorn until March 2020 (rulership).
Uranus in Aries (strong).

The main astro news right now, is the Sun’s current conjunction with the South Node at 26 Capricorn. It will be there through the weekend. The South Node symbolizes the past, and everything you’ve already mastered. Since all of this is happening in the Earth sign of Capricorn, it will crystalize (earth) your vision (the Sun) of things you’ve mastered (South Node). It also represents Capricorn-type issues being diminished, since the past is disappearing behind us at every moment. Capricorn rules government, structures, old money and regulation, and it’s interesting that the government is currently going through it’s longest shut down in history.
On a personal level, we are experiencing our pasts and perhaps clinging to old ways of operating that no longer serve us. Ambition, control, discipline, responsibility are in a state of deterioration for the next year or so. Instead, Cancerian values are highlighted; sensitivity, nostalgia, sweetness, indulgence, motherhood and nurturing. Old ways are leaving us, and new ways are being introduced.
If you want a personalized report on your personal North Node placement, feel free to book me for a phone reading. We are also between two eclipses, a crossroads, and the appearance of a new portal for us to pass through. This time between two eclipses puts us in a place between the worlds. Whatever began for us in February 2017 is being completed this month. The Full Moon, Lunar eclipse in Leo is this Sunday.

THURSDAY, Jan. 17th: Gemini Moon, which brings socializing, but Mercury is in Capricorn which brings caution. Make sure you have all the facts before negotiating or communicating anything. Good time for real, solid commitments.

FRIDAY, Jan. 18th: Moon in Gemini, and 8:50am Venus (in Sag) trine Mars (in Aries). This aspect brings passion, joy and romance. The masculine and feminine find balance.
11.59am: Mercury conjunct Pluto. Excellent day for writers, self expression, therapy and research. We get to the heart of things. Be gentle if airing grievances today.
5:30pm: Sun square Uranus. We might see different paths to achieving what we want, or there could be a shake up in our souls and vision. Squares demand work for results.

SATURDAY, Jan. 19th: Moon in Cancer. oooo be gentle. This is a sensitive sign and we are two days away from an eclipse. Cook for your loved one today, or do some chore you’ve been promising to do forever. Clean the house and indulge. Lower the intensity.

SUNDAY, Jan. 20th: Moon in Cancer, and Sun into Aquarius at 1:00am Pacific. With the Sun in Capricorn, we’ve become clear about what we want to accomplish this year, gotten organized, and reached a new level of commitment. We’ve established a new, solid foundation, and the discipline to make our ambitions a reality. With the Sun’s entrance into Aquarius, the mood lightens and we look to the future.
8:30pm: Venus square Neptune. Tensions and a need to overcome illusions about love. Instead of indulging in escapism, try to embrace your spiritual strength and connection. And then go make some art.
9:15pm: Full moon eclipse at 0 degrees Leo. Wherever this eclipse falls in your chart opens up a doorway to a new path. The 0 degree of any sign is one of the strongest expressions of it’s nature. Pay attention what occurs in your life this weekend and Monday… there could be some flashes of your future.

MONDAY, Jan. 21st: Moon in Leo. Fallout from the huge eclipse yesterday continues.
3:15am: Mars square Saturn. This is a tough aspect, since both of these planets are tough-minded. Squares bring tension, but illuminate work to be done to overcome the block. Mars wants to charge ahead without thinking, and Saturn is cautious. A balance needs to be enacted here.

TUESDAY, Jan. 22nd: Moon in Leo. Today we begin the clean up from our wild weekend.
4:30am Pacific Venus conjunct Jupiter. One of the happiest, luckiest, most romantic of yearly aspects between these two luminaries. Take some time to smell the roses today. Accept party invites and hang around people you enjoy.

WEDNESDAY, Jan. 23rd: Moon in Virgo. We are back into organizing our lives, and taking action on our procrastination.
