Week of September 17

sun

Monday, Sept. 17 – Sun in Virgo, Moon in Capricorn. Morning is sluggish (Moon conjunct Saturn), but then a busy work day. It will feel good. You can get a lot done! Anything established today will last a long time.  Not a good day to get concessions from authority.

Tuesday, Sept. 18 – Moon in Capricorn. Keep working hard and impress your boss or clients. There’s no way around, just through.  The seeds you sow now will be a harvested bounty in a couple of months.

Wednesday, Sept. 19 – Moon void-of-course in Capricorn from 10:10am to 4:52pm. Try not to have important meetings or conversations during this time. After 5:00pm the mood will lighten quite a bit and the focus will be on teamwork.

Thursday, Sept. 20 – Moon in Aquarius all day! This along with the Sun/Mercury conjunction in Virgo lends this day to writing, short trips, socializing and revelatory daydreaming.

Friday, Sept. 21 – Moon void-of-course in Aquarius ALL DAY. Stay low key and keep the focus on being a team player. Mercury into Libra makes this a nice evening or socializing and romance. Fair negotiations can be worked out for the next few weeks.

Saturday, Sept. 22 – MABON. FALL EQUINOX. Moon in Pisces and Sun into Libra at 6:54pm Pacific. Equal day /Equal night. It’s traditional to watch the sunset this evening,  gather with friends, make wishes and jump over bonfires! It’s a day of celebration, appreciation and indulgence of the bounties of the harvest season.

Sunday, Sept. 23 – Moon in Pisces and Sun in Libra all day. Creative day.

Virgo New Moon

27858229_1795667403790793_5078408995203136290_n
New Moon at 17 Virgo:  Sunday, September 9th at 11:01am Pacific.

Virgo, the Virgin, is an Earth sign ruled by Mercury. We just came out of a Mercury retrograde, so things are moving forward again after a retrograde summer of delay and introspection.

Many of the planets are in great places right now i.e. in their rulership or exaltation.

Mercury is exalted in Virgo.
Venus in her rulership in Libra.
Mars just went direct; exalted in Capricorn.
Saturn is direct in it’s rulership of Capricorn.

That’s a lot of earthy energy in the skies.

The element Earth is about being practical and manifesting things. With Neptune (the planet of dreams) in it’s natural home of Pisces, we have a wonderful opportunity to turn our dreams into realities. You have to make it real though, and Virgo helps us look at our organization and habits. What is it you want to bring into your life? Are you organized and spending time each day on achieving it?

Virgo is self improvement, details, analysis, planning, perfection and service. We make a practical plan of action to manifest the huge ideas spawned this summer with the Leo sun. Virgo is pure in nature (the Virgin), and is symbolized by a single woman standing alone on her own two feet. Such a powerful image for women today. She is whole unto herself, independent, and can make decisions that actualize her potential.

Virgo integrates; bring the parts together into a whole – but can also be a harsh self critic with the constant striving for perfection. We need to integrate gentleness, self love, and allowing ourselves and others to be imperfect while we walk out practical path of manifestation.

The main thing is to face the reality of your life. If you’re able to do that you can accomplish anything, because the rules of this planet are based in physical reality. Grasping onto fantasies keeps our egos in charge – feeling that we can accomplish things with no effort. We have a spiritual need as humans to surrender our egos and find meaning.

…so see where you’re headed
…do the Work to make your reality better
…take responsibility for how you’ve lived up until now
…start TODAY!

New Moon in Scorpio

barneywitch

November 18: New Moon in Scorpio at 3:42am Pacific.
November 21: Sun into Sagittarius.
November 22: Neptune Direct in Pisces.
December 1: Venus into Sagittarius.
December 3: Mercury Retrograde from 29º to 13º Sagittarius.

Today is the New Moon in Scorpio and we arrive at the high point of Autumn – a time of regeneration and transformation for all of us. This new moon has the added spice of Jupiter in Scorpio, bringing good luck and prosperity to the “Scorpio corner” of your chart. If you’ve had your chart done before, find the House that begins in Scorpio. Look at your 8th House too. These are the areas of your life that will be expanded over the next year. If you need help figuring it out, shoot me an email 🙂

Scorpio is the area of your life where you want to go DEEP. You find your passion there, and are compelled to thoroughly investigate the matters ruled by that House. If you look at the last four weeks, back to mid October, you’ll get some insight on the area of your life that needs regeneration and change. Scorpio rules money, sex, the occult, healing and death. There’s a focus on getting our financial lives in order, looking for health insurance, wrapping up loose ends and preparing for 2018. Situations around sexuality, dating, relationships, commitment have come up, along with reproductive issues. And there’s the Scorpio witchiness of Halloween.

All of this is slightly complicated by Scorpio’s ruler, Mars, traveling through the sign of Libra, where it’s debilitated (not happy).

Mars in Libra is analogous to a warrior in full armor sitting in the middle of a tea party or a fancy dress soiree. He’s completely out of place there, feels awkward, frustrated, and can’t wait to leave. Mars in Libra has to slow down and focus on balancing the warrior’s grand designs with the desires of other people. He’d much rather charge ahead on his own. Along with the transformative quality of November, there’s a focus on relationships, and how to balance our goals with the needs of others. Mars will move into Scorpio on December 9th, and our ambitions will start moving forward again.

Also, look out for Mars in Libra squaring Pluto in Capricorn tomorrow (Sunday). Avoid bad neighborhoods, arguing with people, bad food and frustrating social situations. Doing something physical like cleaning the house, going for a hike or helping someone in need is the best way to channel this transit!

Astro Report for mid October

angels

The Full Moon in Aries last Thursday is now behind us, and it was one of the more challenging moons we’ve faced in a long time. Uranus (sudden changes) on the Full Moon, squaring Mars (aggression) and Venus (relationships) created a tense and chaotic atmosphere in many areas of our lives. I’m sure many of us are feeling exhausted and bewildered from the sudden events. Last week illuminated our compatibilities and differences, as well as the road  to creating an authentic harmony.

This week starts with more tension with Mercury and the Sun squaring Pluto. Avoid conflicts and social squabbles and instead focus on regeneration and what’s most important. These are the best ways to use Pluto’s cathartic energy! This planet brings up toxic thoughts from under the surface that need to be purged and healed. You can help the process by focusing on your goals. Remain peaceful and avoid angry situations or people.

Jupiter moves from Libra to Scorpio on Tuesday. This planet expands all it touches, and the energy shifts from relationships and art to sex, power struggles and the unearthing of secrets. Much more on this later! Let changes unfold instead of forcing solutions.

As always, try to keep the focus on improving your own life conditions rather than imposing your will on others. Practicing gratitude, getting a good night’s sleep, having some good food or a chat with a trusted friend are the best things for us in October.

July Astro

IMG_0242

Astrologically, the first days of July have been emotionally rough, and the best way through it has been to Feel our Feelings. The Sun is in Cancer which is the most emotionally sensitive sign of the zodiac. It directs our attention to unresolved family/home issues that need to be addressed and purged. Also, the Moon has been traveling through Scorpio the last few days – bringing up our deepest psychological knots to be healed. Mercury and Mars have been barreling through Cancer too, adding some extra urgency and heat. PLUS on Saturday, Chiron (the wounded healer) turned retrograde – activating the vulnerable place of old pain each of us carries. I mean seriously!! How much more can we take??!!

Be gentle with yourself this week, and take time for solitude if you need it. I do a lot of journaling during times like these, and often find nuggets of wisdom through reflection and dreams. As a wise friend once told me, “if you treat yourself like a precious jewel, everything will fall into place”. I find the deepest truths can be found in our recurring patterns. Is there something you need to sacrifice in order to release suffering?

Currently:
Mars opposing Pluto (the warrior faces Death, read this piece by Austin Coppock)
Mercury into Leo 5:20pm Pacific TODAY.
Full Moon in Capricorn this SUNDAY, July 9th (just work all weekend)
Venus in Gemini, Mars in Cancer (not happy) until July 20th.

So basically, next weekend could be the sequel to last… the Full Moon this Sunday is at the same degree as Pluto – so we will have a Full Moon conjunct Pluto which is also intensely emotional – but highly transformational. Pluto wants to help us rebirth ourselves by clearing out toxic sludge; it’s catharsis.

“Catharsis (from Greek κάθαρσις katharsis meaning “purification” or “cleansing”) is the purification and purgation of emotions—especially pity and fear—through art or any extreme change in emotion that results in renewal and restoration. It is a metaphor originally used by Aristotle in the Poetics, comparing the effects of tragedy on the mind of a spectator to the effect of a cathartic on the body.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catharsis

The Sun is now in Cancer, about to catch up with Mercury and Mars which are also swimming through the sign of the Crab. This brings attention to the home front and the deep, vulnerable parts of ourselves. Be generous and kind to yourself for the next month. Focus on self nurturing and the things that bring you a sense of security (and of course straighten up your house). There’s been so much fiery storming through Gemini the last month, this new water vibe feels purifying and refreshing.
Jupiter is moving forward in Libra, giving a huge, fortunate expansion to relationships and partnerships of all kinds. Saturn continues it’s backward trek through Sagittarius, asking us to review the growth we’ve made in our life perspectives over the past several months. Where is your faith and truth?
Uranus is in the last degrees of Aries, about to jump into Taurus. It will be another year or two before the Revolutionary planet trines (throws supportive love) to Pluto in Capricorn, but when it does, look out. We are in the throws of a decaying, outworn paradigm (Capricorn), and something fresh, earth-based and humanitarian is about to take shape. The old way of doing things cannot survive the upcoming radical change.

Although it’s challenging, we need to be honest with ourselves and grounded in reality. There’s simply no more chances for people or situations that diminish you.

Removing the last thin veil

Mary sums up my thoughts completely! Readings often reaffirm a subject’s own inclinations and validate a person’s instincts. This is a great read on how to approach tarot readngs.

Mary K. Greer's Tarot Blog

Many people come to Tarot readings in hopes of “fixing” their lives—obtaining information and guidance that will help them make the “right” decisions and no mistakes—guaranteeing perfection.

I subscribe to the BrainPickings blog featuring contemplative posts on creativity, literature and non-fiction. This week’s post has some applicable thoughts by George Saunders and Parker Palmer that show the narrowness of perfection.

George Saunders“Although we’re animated by conflicting impulses and irrepressible moral imperfection, we can still live rich and beautiful lives.”wpid-Photo-Apr-19-2011-710-PM.jpg

Parker Palmer“Wholeness does not mean perfection: it means embracing brokenness as an integral part of life.”

I ask you, as a Tarot reader, how can we help the querent “embrace brokenness”?

On the other hand, I sometimes hear from clients that a reading primarily showed them something they knew already. I ask them if they knew that what was shown was the most important thing to take into account in their situation—the…
