We are in the dark of the Moon this week, so just take it easy and rest. The Moon is waning until Sunday, April 11th, when we have a New Moon in Aries.

Friends, it’s a week of germination as we prepare for the rebirth of the New Moon in Aries next Sunday. The week starts in an airy, social space with the Moon in Aquarius, and now Mercury in Aries. Mercury is amplified in Aries after spending weeks in foggy, sentimental, watery Pisces. Our minds shake off the confusion and become reborn in the sign of the Ram. Mercury is moving fast and will soon catch up to Chiron, then the Sun and Venus, who are still moving through Aries together.

It will be interesting to see what happens when the Sun, Venus and Mercury catch up with Eris in Aries and square Pluto in Capricorn. This major, two year square between Pluto (evolution) and Eris (discord) is one of the most combustible aspects happening right now. We are also moving towards Pluto stationing retrograde on April 27, which could bring up challenges leading to evolution. Keep your focus on what’s most important to you, and ignore the distractions that arise.

We now have all the personal planets – Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars – in the early signs of the zodiac: Aries, Taurus and Gemini. These are the most personal, impulsive, internal, spontaneous, self-oriented energies. It’s springtime, and the seed is just starting to sprout. We are getting in touch with our values, desires and needs so we can individuate (Aries). The impulse towards individualization is coming from Pluto, the Soul, over in Capricorn. Ask yourself: who am I, and what do I want to see happen with my life and my purpose”. Once you’ve established those answers, Uranus in Taurus will help you build new ways of becoming self sufficient.

Monday, April 5th: Moon in Aquarius. It’s an oddly relaxing day. Moon conjuncts Pluto in the middle of the night bringing a heavy, serious vibe, but Moon sextile Mercury in the afternoon makes it easier to talk about whatever is coming up.

Tuesday, April 6th: Moon in Aquarius means try a radical new approach. This is the best communication/negotiation day of the week. We examine and reassess our vision of the future, and how that ties in with the upcoming New Moon. Also, Venus sextiles Mars bringing harmony between men and women. The randiness of Spring is in full effect. Remember to be artfully tactful in all ambitious ventures. Art and music get a boost.

Wednesday, April 7th: Moon void, then into Pisces at 1:30pm Pacific. Follow your instincts and practice self love. Moon conjuncts Jupiter in the early morning which brings a wonderful, jovial vibe to the day. Emotions are lighthearted.

Thursday, April 8th: Moon in Pisces. You might need some solitude as we approach the New Moon. Take time for yourself and focus on nurturing and spiritual practice. Moon sextile Uranus is the only aspect today, and could bring some morning surprises.

Friday, April 9th: Moon in Pisces goes void-of-course at 4:48pm Pacific. Mercury conjuncts Chiron and could bring up a crisis in our communication, thinking, technology or the news. Then Mars square Neptune in the afternoon brings confusion with our ambitions or actions. Things are not what they seem, so wait for more clarity. Not a good time to follow your ego into battles or willful behavior. Avoid rumination, speculation, fantasies, drugs and alcohol.

Saturday, April 10th: Moon in Aries. Mercury sextile Saturn and Venus sextile Jupiter bring great conditions for creative people, and for having fun. Be open to inspiration, beauty and vision – as well opportunities to expand your visibility. These aspects are sociable, but practice caution with Pluto (pandemics) going retrograde in two weeks.

Sunday, April 11th: New Moon in Aries at 7:30pm Pacific. The Moon, Sun and Venus hang out together in a delightful pile up in Aries. Do some self-care since Chiron, the great healer, is also nearby. The other BIG aspect – Venus squares Pluto bringing cathartic creativity, or fears with regards to Love and self expression.

We start the week basking in the glow of the Full Moon in Libra today. With the Sun, Venus and Chiron conjunct in Aries, opposing the Moon. We have the opportunity for strong healing and new understanding in our relationships. This is phenomenol… it’s rare and I’ve never seen it in my lifetime. This grand conjunction is exact today and will remain with us through the week ahead. The only thing about Chiron, is sometimes it brings healing through a crisis. Women, artists, painters, or other sensitive, creative people may face a crisis related to well being.

We are currently harvesting what we began last October, when the Sun was in Libra. The energies of this Full Moon will slowly unfold over the week ahead. We will have peak experiences in relationships, love, friendship, communication, agreements, fairness, justice and balance. With the Sun in Aries, we are reminded that loving yourself is important, because if you can do that, you will attract people that will love you in return.

On the other side of the equation, there IS an element of chaos occurring that started last year, and continues through 2022: Pluto in Capricorn (catharsis) exactly square to Eris in Aries (Discord). This is also an aspect that occurs very rarely – in fact most people have never lived through this square. These two heavenly bodies are extremely slow moving, so when there’s an aspect it lasts for a very long time. I believe the chaos engendered by this square is the prelude to the U.S.’s Pluto return. That will be coming up in a couple more years.

So on a personal level, we all might be feeling some relief, but on a societal level, we are in the throes of massive change. As a reminder, ALL of the planets are fully Direct until the end of April! Everything in the sky is moving forward (Direct) right now, which is ALSO rare. It’s a great time to gather forward momentum on anything that’s important to you. We had wonderful, healing energy in March, and it will continue for the next few weeks.

Monday, March 29th: Full Moon in Libra still active, but goes void of course at 5pm. We are tuned in to what feels right, and doesn’t feel right, with the people around us. With Chiron in play, we can bring tremendous healing to old wounds. Libra is the scales, so we are weighing how we feel in each situation. Mercury conjunct Neptune in the evening can make facts unclear, but can also bring inspiration to writers and speakers.

Tuesday, March 30th: Moon in Scorpio brings seriousness and intensity; If a boundary needs to be set, today is the day. Scorpio moon is where we draw boundaries to emotionally protect ourselves. T square today, with the Moon squaring Saturn and opposing Uranus at the same time. Stay neutral and be observational in any tiffs or spats.

Wednesday, March 31st: Moon in Scorpio continues, and goes void at 5:30pm Pacific. Don’t let anyone steal your peace. Scorpio’s ruler, Mars, is in Gemini which can bring a “war of words” or online spats. Think things through before speaking. Scorpio Moon is for rebirthing and transformation.

Thursday, April 1st: Moon in Sagittarius. Adventures await! Revisit your goals and update your plan to achieve them. The mood is lighter and communications are enhanced, but there are no major aspects today.

Friday, April 2nd: Moon in Sagittarius with a flurry of aspects. Moon trines Venus which enhances creativity and love. Mercury sextiles Pluto which brings evolution, healing and catharsis to communications. Writer can make good use of this aspect. Past lessons and flashes of the future could appear with the Moon opposing the North Node, so watch for markers and insights.

Saturday, April 3rd: Moon in Capricorn and Mercury into Aries. It’s Easter weekend, and we resurrect ourselves. Mercury entering Aries gives us a new start in our thinking and communications. We find it easier to be direct now, and to speak from the heart.

Sunday, April 4th: Moon in Capricorn (in her detriment) and we enter the 4th quarter Moon. No big aspects today – try not to sink into pessimism with the Moon in this hard place. Use the energy to get out into the garden and do some hard work. With the 4th quarter Moon, we begin a week of rest.

The Paschal full moon is the first full moon of spring

by Joe Rao

“Palm Sunday, March 28 brings us the first full moon of the new spring season: the Paschal full moon. The official moment that the moon will turn full is 2:48 p.m. EDT (1848 GMT).

Traditional names for the full moons of the year are found in some publications such as The Farmers’ Almanac. We also published the full list of full moon names here on Space.com earlier this year. The origins of these names date back a few hundred years to Native American tribes, though they may also have evolved from old England or, as astronomy author Guy Ottewell, suggests, “writer’s fancy.”

The Paschal full moon of spring is also the mirror-image of the full Harvest Moon of autumn. What sets the Harvest Moon apart from the others is that instead of rising at its normal average of 50 minutes later each day, it seems to rise at nearly the same time for several nights.

In direct contrast to the Harvest Moon, the Paschal Full Moon appears to rise considerably later each night. Below we’ve provided some examples for ten North American cities.”

Art in Alchemy: Visual communication

table

The language of symbols through the medium of alchemy is one of the oldest forms of communication on our planet, and my absolute favorite. I love the simplicity and history encompassed in a single image. I stumbled across this fantastic retrospective by Guity Novin today. She is a really interesting artist of Iranian descent, and has an interesting perspective on the art of alchemy. It’s long, but I have to share it with you.

Here are some highlights from the full article:

On Saturday, March 20, the Sun entered Aries and we had the Spring Equinox (equal day equal night). With the Sun freshly in Aries, we begin a brand new astrological year! 2020 is officially over, and we have a new start in life. This week, the Moon is in her 2nd quarter, and we are building to a Full Moon on Sunday, March 28th. This Moon represents the culmination of what’s been building up in March.

The Full Moon in Libra is symbolized by The Scales, and usually appears around the Spring Equinox. The Sun in Aries symbolizes the “self” and individuality, and it’s opposite, Libra, represents balance, fairness, relationships, equality and justice. Libra is the sign where we have to deal with Other People, so all of our relationships and partnerships will be highlighted this week. We will all be hammering out new, balanced agreements in our partnerships.

The Sun will be in a conjunction with Venus and Chiron on this Full Moon too, healing our deepest wound. The Sun wants to advance, so with Venus and Chiron involved, we shine brighter as we undertake our soul’s purpose. Self love can be understood on a new level. Also, Mars will conjunct the North Node, giving new fuel to our future direction and plans. The Sun and Venus will move through the sky together in Aries for the next two weeks.

Venus just entered Aries on Sunday. She’s only there once every 18 months, so Aries people will have lovely, harmonious and sociable birthdays this year. Since Venus rules Taurus and Libra, these signs are starting a new cycle though the zodiac. Anyone born in those signs will experience an even stronger rebirth then the rest of us.

Also on Sunday, Mars trine Saturn was exact. Anything requiring discipline, physicality or structure can get a huge boost from this aspect. Go to the gym and start regular exercise this week. If you need focus to finish a languishing project, this is the week to reignite the passion. What’s the most efficient way to apply your time and energy?

Monday, March 22nd: The Moon in Cancer, occurring on a Monday, is VERY fortuitous for Moon Magick. Waxing Moon. If you want to increase your intutiveness, nurturing, self care, or improve your relationships with women, your Mom or roommates – today is the day. Blue for peace. The energy of the week begins in this sensitive, sweet and emotional place. Honor whatever feelings are coming up today and let your emotions guide you.

Tuesday, March 23rd: Moon void-of-course in Cancer most of the day, and enters Leo at 2:56pm Pacific. Step carefully around people’s feelings. The Moon between Cancer and Leo is a VERY sensitive place, and if someone’s feelings get hurt they can hold a grudge for a long time. Cancer is the sign of the home, so it’s good day to relax, declutter, and cook a special meal. People will be sensitive, so no big conversations until tomorrow.

Wednesday, March 24th: Moon in Leo. Stand out and be seen! Seek concessions from authority. We are also under the influence of Mars in exact square to Mercury, so be careful of aggresiveness and thoughtlessness in your communications. Think things through CAREFULLY before speaking your truth.

Thursday, March 25th: Moon void-of-course in Leo ALL DAY! Let your creative side out to play. The Sun and Venus conjunct in the middle of the night, bringing positive feelings and expansiveness to beauty, romance and art.

Friday, March 26th: Moon in Virgo and Sun conjunct Venus. Things will be fuzzy and undefined thanks to Mercury (Virgo’s ruler) floundering through his detriment in Pisces. Use your intuition instead. Great evening for a walk under the Full Moon with someone you love… or someone you want to get to know.

Saturday, March 27th: Moon void-of-course in Virgo at 4:48pm Pacific, and stays void all evening. Avoid pettiness, pickiness and over analysis. We are in the orb of the Full Moon so things could start getting intense or extreme, Meditation is a great way to focus the mind and manage any anxiety around this moon. Clean and reorganize your house!

Sunday, March 28th: Full Moon in Libra at 11:48am Pacific. Romance is in the air. We can have positive conversations and work out agreements with people. The focus is on playing fair and taking everyone’s feelings into account. Work towards win-win situations. Also Sunday, Venus conjunct Chiron is exact, which can spark a crisis that brings enormous healing. If something comes up try and focus on the brighter possibilities of what could emerge down the road.

Spring Equinox 0° Aries

Persephone Awakening’, by Jesper Alvermark, aka Zabani

I want to share the Sabian Symbol for Sun entering Aries, and the start of Spring. Today is the real New Year – when the Sun moves to 0 degrees Aries. Here’s Dane Rudhyar‘s insight into what this day means! Happy Spring:

PHASE 1 (ARIES 1°): A WOMAN JUST RISEN FROM THE SEA. A SEAL IS EMBRACING HER.

KEYNOTE: Emergence of new forms and of the potentiality of consciousness.

This is the first of the 360 phases of a universal and multilevel cyclic process which aims at the actualization of a particular set of potentialities. These potentialities, in the Sabian symbols, refer to the development of man’s individualized consciousness — the consciousness of being an individual person with a place and function (a “destiny”) in the planetary organism of the Earth, and in a particular type of human society and culture.

To be individually conscious means to emerge out of the sea of generic and collective consciousness — which to the emerged mind appears to be unconsciousness. Such an emergence is the primary event. It is the result of some basic action: a leaving behind, an emerging from a womb or matrix, here symbolized by the sea.

Such an action is not to be considered a powerful, positive statement of individual being. In the beginning is the Act; but it is often an imperceptible, insecure act. The small tender germ out of the seed does not loudly proclaim its existence. It has to pierce through the crust of the soil still covered with the remains of the past. It is all potentiality and a minimum of actual presence.

In the symbol, therefore, the emergent entity is a Woman; symbolically speaking, a form of existence still close to the unconscious depths of generic biological nature, filled with the desire to be rather than self-assertion. The woman is seen embraced by a seal because the seal is a mammal which once had experienced a biological, evolutionary but relatively unconscious emergence, yet which retraced its steps and “returned to the womb” of the sea. The seal, therefore, represents a regressive step. It embraces the Woman who has emerged, because every emergent process at first is susceptible to failure. This process is indeed surrounded by the memory, the ghosts of past failures during previous cycles. The impulse upward is held back by regressive fear or insecurity; the issue of the conflict depends on the relative strength of the future-ward and the past-ward forces.

The possibility of success and that of failure is implied throughout the entire process of actualization. Every release of potentiality contains this two-fold possibility. It inevitably opens up two paths: one leads to “perfection” in consciousness, the other to “disintegration” – the return to the undifferentiated state (the state of humus, manure, cosmic dust – i.e. to the symbolic “great Waters of space,” to chaos)

This symbol characterizes the first of five stages which are repeated at three levels. This stage represents the initial statement, or theme, of the five-fold series which refers to the first level: IMPULSE TO BE.”

We begin this week basking in the glow of the lovely Pisces New Moon last Saturday; an uplifting, spiritual and artistic event. We have a fresh start in the realms of music, love, creativity and spiritual connection. This week, the Moon is waxing (growing bigger) each day. Mercury is about to join Neptune, Venus, and the Sun in Pisces, leaving Jupiter and Saturn to soar the airy heights of Aquarius. We’ve spent the last month in Pisces, and we have a new vision of ourselves.

Spring begins on Saturday with the Sun’s entrance into Aries! There’s been a wonderful series of aspects over the past couple of weeks. The only tension is the continuing Saturn square Uranus, which encourages each of us to stabilize our lives so we can progress into the future. This push and pull will take all year to sort out, so embrace the things in life that nurture and revitalize you.

Last Saturday’s Venus conjunct Neptune is with us through the week. It’s a yearly conjunction between the lower and higher vibrations of love. This energy blends with the Sun moving through the last degrees of Pisces – enhancing reflection, artistic expression, and spiritual love. If you’re a musician, artist, filmmaker or writer, make use of this energy over the next few days. Intuitive, psychic and mystical revelations are within our grasp.

Monday, March 15th: Moon in Aries, Mercury into Pisces, and the Sun in the last degrees of Pisces. The week after a New Moon gives us fresh energy, and a feeling of rebirth. Moon in Aries means people (including us) won’t be patient, or listen well. Entertain the idea of patience, and let other people do the “acting out”.

Tuesday, March 16th: Moon in Taurus. The Moon is exalted here, so clarity can arrive regarding emotional troubles. Energy slows down as we move through the day, and authority figures become more stern and stubborn.

Wednesday, March 17th: Moon in Taurus. Slow way down and savor all sensations. No real aspects today, so enjoy the Moon in this pleasurable place. Awakening the five senses is highlighted; take a walk in nature or spend time with animals.

Thursday, March 18th: Moon in Taurus, and Mercury enters Pisces. Our minds get confused in the water’s currents, so turn to mysticism, intuition, and connection with the divine. Mercury is in his detriment here, so no mercurial Magick for the next few weeks.

Friday, March 19th: Moon in Gemini. Moon conjuncts Mars and trines Saturn, bringing an element of seriousness to today’s activities. We will all just want to talk and socialize though. Mind the details.

Saturday, March 20th: Moon in Gemini. SPRING EQUINOX: The Sun enters Aries at 2:27pm Pacific. We begin a new astrological year! It’s the start of everything; today is the TRUE New Year. Think about what you’d like to “grow” this year – either spiritual, material, emotional or mental. If you plant a seed, or start a new habit, it will continue to grow until you reap the results this Fall.

Sunday, March 21st: Moon in Cancer, and Venus into Aries. Venus enters Aries at 7:16am, starting a new cycle around the zodiac. Mars also trines Saturn, making this a great week to focus, get disciplined and put in the hard work. Need to exercise? Eat better? Meditate? This aspect can help you start a new habit. Moon in Cancer and Venus in Aries inspire you to decorate your house.

A Hag’s guide to Spring Cleaning

“A Hag’s Guide to Spring Cleaning” by Alexis J. Cunningfolk

“Scrub your skin with the dirt from a hollow hill.

Brush your body with raven feathers and the blessings of a million hags gone before who have never given a shit about the what looks “nice” to others.

Take all the pots and pans out of your kitchen, clean them with black salt, and bring them outside with your spoons and knives. Make a racket to wake up the earth and let the neighbors know that their local hag has woken up from winter slumber.

Water your garden with the tears shed by those suffering from fragile masculinity to help them grow towards their heart instead of their fear.

Stitch up your worn out clothes with the red thread of intersectionality and luck.

Scare the life back into your heart by grinning so loudly in the mirror that you can see every tooth, fang, and monster song gurgling forth from the back of your throat.

Go to a crossroads, turn to the east, and spit three times so that you never forget how to find your way back.

Stain your lips and fingers with the blood of berries.

Braid thorns into your hair and rub rose dust into your eyebrows.

Never say you’re sorry for making it to another spring. Cackle instead and celebrate the ugly bits that have kept you alive.

Lace up your boots with the stories of your ancestors raging against powers they were told were unbreakable but have long turned to dust.

Greet your witchen kin with right hands grasped, left hand over the heart of the other, foreheads touching. Breath in, breath out. Say, “I fucking love you.”

Remember that hags like you grow like weeds and springtime will never be the same. “

We are in the dark of the Moon this week, so just take it easy and rest. The Moon is waning until Saturday, March 13th, when we have a New Moon in Pisces.

A slow week to start off, but things get so sweet, romantic and artistic by Friday. The week begins with the Sun moving towards the last degrees of Pisces, and ALL OTHER PLANETS moving forward!! This is a great astrological signature, and we can finally catch our breath and really take a look around at our new world.

The Moon rendezvous with some lovely energies this week in the lead up to our beautfiul, artistic and spiritual New Moon. It’s rare to see such beautiful placements with everything moving forward as well. The only glitch is the continuing battle between the “old” and the “new”, i.e. the square between Saturn and Uranus. It’s still with us, creating battles in our society and leadership. The old guard is struggling to hold onto power and to control the future. As technology advances it will lose it’s grip.

Mercury and Jupiter are still conjunct this week but separating. This is the annual connection between our minds and the planet of optimism. We can attract luck and expand business opportunities, negotiation, commerce, prosperity, creative writing and other mental challenges.

The main ruler of this week though, is Neptune. The God of the Sea offers us the keys to the kingdom of our subconscious, expansive creativity, and spiritual strength. If you aren’t ready for this kind of soul growth, he offers you many other things to help you escape the world – alcohol, shopping, TV, drugs, misplaced passions, comfort food, gambling, and internet scrolling. No one is perfect, and of course we all need breaks from reality from time to time, but if you’re not careful Neptune can have you bubbling away your cares for months and years. We must eventually face our distractions and access our intuition to find the true path forward.

Monday, March 8th: Moon in Capricorn, going void-of-course at 4:52pm Pacific. Make decisions early in the day if possible. Today we get down to brass tacks and put in the hard work. We are disciplined and focused. Don’t absorb other people’s pessimism and negativity, just let it roll on by.

Tuesday, March 9th: Moon in Aquarius means to try a radical new approach. This is the best communication/negotiation day of the week. If an issue in your life feels out of control or unjust, gently take action today. Aquarius is the sign of vision, and the future, so it’s easier to find the path forward today.

Wednesday, March 10th: Moon in Aquarius conjuncts Jupiter and Mercury, and the Sun makes a lovely conjunction with Neptune. We emotionally connect with the growth of the past month. Today is a feel good day. Avoid overindulgence and watch for serendipity.

Thursday, March 11th: Moon in Pisces. You might need some solitude as we approach the New Moon. Take some time for yourself and focus on nurturing and spiritual practice. You have permission to rest and watch movies.

Friday, March 12th: Moon in Pisces and conjuncts Venus 7:29pm Pacific. This is a SERIOUSLY great date night. Some lovely aspects with the Moon, so enjoy the creativity of the day. Pay attention to dreams, insights, and intuition. Put lavender under your pillow and keep a pad of paper and pen next to your bed.

Saturday, March 13th: New Moon in Pisces at 2:21am, void at 8:30am then into Aries at 3:44pm. Great conditions for creative people, and for starting something new. Dive into the cosmic waters and join with the great chaos. Venus also conjuncts Neptune today which is FANTASTIC! Be open to inspiration, beauty and vision! Artists, musicians, painters, writers and filmakers today is your day!

Sunday, March 14th: Moon in Aries. No big aspects today. Do some self-care and healing since the Moon joins up with Chiron, the great healer.

One sided relationships

I’ve had a few one-sided relationships in my life, and of course it all started with my relationship with my alcoholic father. When I saw this picture from the “Rising Woman” website, it really reminded me of growing up with a distant father. Seems like many kids who grew up in the 70’s experienced the same thing.

My dad had very low self esteem, and no tools to manage his emotions. The only thing he knew to do was drink and create emotional and physical distance from people. When my Mom left him in 1969, he punished her by emotionally abandoning me. The result was I had difficulty trusting men, and would usually choose someone who was a workaholic, heavy drinker, physically compromised or burdened with responsibilities.

Thanks to my work in programs like Alanon, I’ve been able to work through a lot of these issues. Alanon is free and available to anyone dealing with an alcoholic or addict. I highly recommend it! Here’s more information from Rising Woman about one sided relationships with romantic partners:

“Ever find yourself clinging to a one-sided relationship with an emotionally unavailable partner?

A good question to ask when we notice this is:

“What part of me is it that wants this so badly?”

Sometimes it’s our most wounded self… or our “child-self” that takes over and gets caught in the pain and fear of not being chosen.

… The fear of being abandoned.

Our emotions are powerful. And to become more Conscious and self-loving… It’s our job to learn how to listen to our emotions and act from a place of self-worth.

(Rather than react out of discomfort.)

We often simply mask our discomfort to avoid feeling abandoned, unloved, or unworthy, without really going to the root cause.

We’re temporarily soothing ourselves with a chase… or giving ourselves away in dead-end relationships.

… But we’re not actually getting what we want or what we deserve from a relationship.

If they say they can’t commit – Believe them.

If they tell you they aren’t ready – Believe them.

If they say “I like you, but I’m selfish” – Believe them.

People don’t necessarily want to hurt us, but the reality is, unless they’ve done their inner-work and are aware enough to act Consciously, their actions may be entirely self-serving; which leaves you feeling unsupported.

It’s up to you to be your own wise, nurturing and loving inner-parent.

Remind yourself that it’s safe to be loved…

That healthy love doesn’t have to be boring…

Learn to see the signs of when you might be confusing chaos with chemistry.

You are here to be loved and cherished.

You have the capacity to step into your worth. And stretch yourself to show up powerfully in all of your relationships.

It’s time.
