Full Moon in Libra

a33d23dc127d0dc7b02ff9eb9a8ed4e7

We’re still under the effect of Saturday’s romantic full moon in Libra. Anything started last October 2017 is reaching a culmination this week. The foundations of all our partnerships are up for review, and we are seeing if they have the inherent stability to last through the Spring.

But the strongest vibe is coming from the Saturn – Mars conjunction in Capricorn occurring today. This happens every two years – but this is the first time it’s happened in the sign of Capricorn for several decades. These two drive our ambitions and fan the fires of hard work. This conjunction today inspires us to a begin a new story for our lives. Where do you need to work harder? It’s a new start where we can create the discipline and drive to reach a new level of achievement. Today we get real and TAKE COMMAND.

Mars and Saturn together want us to make something of ourselves. Get real, bust your illusions and explore your limits.

From Ronnie Pontiac:

“Monday Mars conjunct Saturn is exact and quite strong all week. This can be a very frustrating and irritating aspect. Limitations, the past, older folks, authority figures, scarcity and the other troop of Saturn themes can cause anger, exhaustion, criticism, depression and pessimism. Better to use this energy for hard work, for refining goals, for learning things that can improve your activities.

The Mercury retrograde and Saturn themes continue on Wednesday as Mercury square Mars is exact and Thursday about an hour and a half after midnight when Mercury square Saturn is exact. Both of these aspects can make this a quarrelsome week. Resist the urge to argue about things that you can’t change. Try not to be sharp with others because you’re bugged by some problem you can’t yet solve. These are good aspects for editing , for learning, and for teaching, but you may have to drag yourself up each step at first.

Saturday Venus trine Saturn is exact a wonderful aspect for art and romance but in a restrained, calm way. Learn from beauty. Let harmony inspire you to organize your life. Set boundaries in relationships. Meditation can provide pleasant experiences. A good time for exercise and wholesome nutrition on all levels.

Next Sunday the dead of the moon begins and with Mercury still retrograde it’s not a good time for starting new ventures. Use this week to get some rest, you’ll be needing energy for April.

April 14 Jupiter sextile Pluto and Mars sextile Neptune are exact, war and hostility can expand rapidly but so can opportunity and optimism. April 15 Mercury turns direct. April 17 Saturn is stationary retrograde giving the month a heavy Saturn flavor. Keep it simple. Learn well. Get extra rest. April 18th sun conjunct Uranus is exact providing some surprises and excitement, hopefully greater freedom as well, and Chiron leaves Pisces to enter Aries (see my most recent astrological note on my profile for more about that). April 22 on Earth Day Pluto turns stationary retrograde. This promises to be a very impactful Earth Day, power will be displayed.

With Saturn and Pluto so influential this month meditation is your friend. Current events are going to become even more exhausting and frustrating. As individuals we’ll be facing the hard lessons of Saturn and the painful healing that Pluto brings. For best results with Saturn streamline, be frugal with energy and resources, study the facts, accept weakness and strengthen it with practice, know your limitations. For best results with Pluto look for areas requiring repair and reform, look for the common good, surrender what cannot belong to your future.”

Singles Awareness

When The Rain Comes In Silence by Burçin Esin

As a follow up to my post on relationships, here’s a great quote for single people:

“There’s so much more to life than finding someone who will want you, or being sad over someone who doesn’t. There’s a lot of wonderful time to be spent discovering yourself without hoping someone will fall in love with you along the way, and it doesn’t need to be painful or empty. You need to fill yourself up with love. Not anyone else. Become a whole being on your own. Go on adventures, fall asleep in the woods with friends, wander around the city at night, sit in a coffee shop on your own, write on bathroom stalls, leave notes in library books, dress up for yourself, give to others, smile a lot.

Do all things with love, but don’t romanticize life like you can’t survive without it. Live for yourself and be happy on your own. It isn’t any less beautiful, I promise.”

July Astro

IMG_0242

Astrologically, the first days of July have been emotionally rough, and the best way through it has been to Feel our Feelings. The Sun is in Cancer which is the most emotionally sensitive sign of the zodiac. It directs our attention to unresolved family/home issues that need to be addressed and purged. Also, the Moon has been traveling through Scorpio the last few days – bringing up our deepest psychological knots to be healed. Mercury and Mars have been barreling through Cancer too, adding some extra urgency and heat. PLUS on Saturday, Chiron (the wounded healer) turned retrograde – activating the vulnerable place of old pain each of us carries. I mean seriously!! How much more can we take??!!

Be gentle with yourself this week, and take time for solitude if you need it. I do a lot of journaling during times like these, and often find nuggets of wisdom through reflection and dreams. As a wise friend once told me, “if you treat yourself like a precious jewel, everything will fall into place”. I find the deepest truths can be found in our recurring patterns. Is there something you need to sacrifice in order to release suffering?

Currently:
Mars opposing Pluto (the warrior faces Death, read this piece by Austin Coppock)
Mercury into Leo 5:20pm Pacific TODAY.
Full Moon in Capricorn this SUNDAY, July 9th (just work all weekend)
Venus in Gemini, Mars in Cancer (not happy) until July 20th.

So basically, next weekend could be the sequel to last… the Full Moon this Sunday is at the same degree as Pluto – so we will have a Full Moon conjunct Pluto which is also intensely emotional – but highly transformational. Pluto wants to help us rebirth ourselves by clearing out toxic sludge; it’s catharsis.

“Catharsis (from Greek κάθαρσις katharsis meaning “purification” or “cleansing”) is the purification and purgation of emotions—especially pity and fear—through art or any extreme change in emotion that results in renewal and restoration. It is a metaphor originally used by Aristotle in the Poetics, comparing the effects of tragedy on the mind of a spectator to the effect of a cathartic on the body.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catharsis

The First Ten Words by Rich Larson

Chris Cornell, 1964-2017

Chris Cornell died early Thursday morning. His band Soundgarden played a show on Wednesday night at the Fox Theater in Detroit. Two hours after the show ended, he was gone.

For two days, I’ve been working on a piece to pay tribute to him, and it’s been a struggle. Usually when I have a problem like this it’s because I’m staring at a blank screen trying to figure out what I want to say. That’s not the problem this time. The problem is I have way too much to say.

I’m not going to sit here and claim to have been a huge fan of Soundgarden. I didn’t dislike them, I just had to take them in small doses. I was a fan of Cornell. I love “Seasons,” the solo song he had on Cameron Crowe’s movie, Singles. It’s a droning acoustic song about isolation and the…

David Bowie’s “Lazarus” Video Isn’t Just a Goodbye, It’s a Harrowing Warning

“Do not waste any more time not expressing yourself.”

Excellent post by Jason Evangelho

David Bowie’s ‘Lazarus’ Video Isn’t Just A Goodbye, It’s A Harrowing Warning

“It’s staggering how differently a piece of art can be interpreted both before and after someone’s death. In the case of the late David Bowie’s music video for “Lazarus,” what may have been viewed as an innocuous 4 minutes of trippy entertainment turns into a disturbing, emotionally raw, premeditated goodbye letter.

I appreciate the impact “Lazarus” — and by extension the entirety of Bowie’s final album Blackstar — has and will have on his fans. We now understand that it was always meant as a final gift from Bowie to his fans.

But for me, that video is a warning.

There’s a scene about 3 minutes into the “Lazarus” video that’s difficult to watch. Scratch that, the entire video is difficult to watch now. Let’s call this scene harrowing. Bowie sits at a desk, frustrated and seemingly impatient to find the right words to jot down in the notebook in front of him. Suddenly a brief smile lights up his face and he begins enthusiastically scrawling on the pad in front of him.

A few seconds later, it’s as if Bowie is overwhelmed. He’s frantically writing now, face wrinkled in concentration, writing so furiously that his hand spills off the page and down the front of his desk.

To me, it’s screaming that Bowie had so much left to say. To contribute. To create. But time has run out.

There’s sage advice embedded here, a thinly veiled warning: Do not waste any more time not expressing yourself. Say what you need to say, boldly and without reservation. Nurture your creativity and don’t be shy about it. Stop constantly consuming and start creating before it’s too late, and that dark, mysterious wardrobe into nothingness consumes you.

Leave your mark. Start today.”
