Astro Weather

Happy Labor Day everyone! Good news, we are starting September off right with two planets resuming forward motion 🙂

Mars and Mercury are doing an odd dance right now. Mercury (in Retrograde) is barreling towards Mars (Direct) in the last degrees of Leo. Remember the eclipse a couple weeks ago?

The American eclipse on August 21st occurred at 28 degrees Leo. Mars will be ON that degree tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 2nd! This transit inspires us to put our eclipse insights into motion and TAKE ACTION! We also have a Mars/Uranus trine (positive aspect) tomorrow! Expect the unexpected… revelations abound and the desire to be free and independent will reach a fever pitch.

Next week, Mars and Mercury will “cross” each other in the night sky causing a moving conjunction AT 29 degrees Leo. If that wasn’t enough (and it really is), Mercury is going Direct on Tuesday (Sept. 5th) at… you guessed it… 28 degrees Leo!!

Mercury (mind and communication) will be united with Mars (action and vitality) and you can finally move mountains in the right direction. Creativity, assertiveness and expression will be easy to access. This is an amazing event, and really beautiful. Astrology never ceases to amaze me.

Saturn turned Direct at 21 Sagittarius on Friday, August 25th at five in the morning. It’s the planet of responsibility, discipline and reality and can feel HEAVY. When Saturn is retrograde, things appear less stable in our personal lives and society at large. Thankfully we are now moving Direct, and issues will begin to get back on course. If you haven’t made progress on a project or goal, there’s steady movement now. Saturn in Sagittarius asks us to recommit to our Truth, Beliefs and Goals, and have discipline in our day to day activities.

The August 21st eclipse will be rolling out and affecting us for the next six months. Since it occurred in Leo, so we can look for a rebirth or change regarding our self expression, status, and identity. Art, clothes, music, leadership and public speaking are highlighted. Did you get any insights on your life?

Everyone will be impacted by August’s eclipse in different ways. If you’re interested in how it will affect you, set up a reading with me 🙂 I can give you a huge snapshot of your life story in a 15 minute phone reading.

Eclipse at 28 Leo

ravn

Solar Eclipse at 28 Leo: 11:25am Pacific, Monday morning, August 21st.

New Moon in Leo: 11:30am.

Moon’s eclipse of the Sun will also TRINE Uranus at 28 Aries! Watch for fireworks. This is a major turning point in our personal lives, AND society at large. Events could change suddenly. Unexpected, hidden insights could appear out of nowhere next week. Eclipse’s can take awhile to manifest too, so the next six months could reveal more sudden changes.

On top of this, most of the other planets are currently Retrograde, asking us to review and reorganize the growth we’ve experienced over the past few months:

Mercury Retrograde in Virgo until September 5th: Reflect. Bring something back that you’ve had on “hold”. Revise, reconfigure and try a different approach or path.
Sun, Moon, Mars and the North Node in Leo. That’s a LOT of action where Leo falls in your chart. You can find your chart here, or set up a reading with me here.
Saturn stationing Direct next Friday at 21 Sagittarius
This eclipse is on the North Node (destiny), leading us to our future. You can get a glimpse of your future if you pay attention on Monday.

When the World falls under the influence of an eclipse, things are out of the ordinary. It’s an uncommon time, and we have rare and insightful experiences. It’s like walking around a darkened room with a black light – things show up differently, and we see things in a way we don’t normally see them. An eclipse can illuminate your path of meaning and life purpose, and bring a new phase of growth and adventure. It’s a hushed, quiet time when you can hear your Higher Soul speaking to you.

We touch the foundations of why we are here on this planet. Each of us gains some new insight or information into the life we are currently leading. This information can come through anything – our family, friends, a situation at work, or a bolt of lightning straight from the heavens into our consciousness. When it’s an eclipse, I pay close attention to what I hear, see and think, because there’s something synchronistic about it. No sudden moves though; think things through and give any revolutionary inklings time to take shape.

Check out the horoscopes below to see how this eclipse will affect you. Read your Rising sign, NOT Sun sign. You can figure out your Rising sign (or Ascendant) here

Aries — Let your creativity shine and your romantic side fully express itself. If you’re an artist, writer or musician this will be a fortunate time for you. If you’re looking for love you are likely to meet someone in the next few months.

Taurus — Hanging out at home is where you want to be. This eclipse lands in you House AND the bedrock of your soul, illuminating your personal psychology. Your personal life is at a turning point, and the next six months could see a change for the better. Be brave and seek counseling if needed.

Gemini — The Sun, Moon and Mars are in your favorite place! The 3rd house of communication, socializing, teaching and learning. Self expression is enhanced so explore your creativity.

Cancer — The eclipse signals a transformation with your money and values. Cancerians need security to feel stable, and with Saturn stationing nearby in a loose trine you should feel on top of things. There could be a boost with values and self esteem in the next few months.

Leo — Mars in Leo gives you the confidence to assume leadership of your life. You’ve had your birthday and you are shining. The fortune you’ve experienced the past couple of years is revving up for a finale, so make the most of this time. Be Bold and embrace the positive changes that are coming. Where do you want to go?

Virgo — The eclipse in Leo is in your 12th House of spirituality and psychology. It’s a time for solitude and contemplation. This house is also known as your “blind spot”, so pay attention and see if you’re repeating old patterns.

Libra — Time to socialize and solidify hopes and wishes. Where do you want to be a year from now? Mars is giving you the drive to make it happen. Bring your wishes into reality.

Scorpio — Your 10th House of ambition, public image, career and direction is foremost in your mind. This eclipse could generate a huge shift in your status. Your ruler Mars is active here and is driving you to work harder. The next six months bring recognition – you are out in the world and highly visible.

Sagittarius — Mars in Leo sends sparks of energy, drive and action to your ideas! Entering a new course of study might be appealing to you. Expanding your life perspective through long distance travel is also possible. Your focus is the higher mind.

Capricorn — You’re looking at issues around debt, credit and real estate… and sex and death too. The eclipse is in your 8th House, and you need to upgrade your views on these issues. This is doubly highlighted by Saturn stationing in Sagittarius next Friday. There’s some deep diving into psychological issues which will yield positive results around your birthday.

Aquarius — The eclipse inspires you to reassess your relationships… ALL of them. You’re redoing your approach to love itself. Look at your values and write a list of the qualities you’re looking for in a partner. A soul mate has appeared – or will be before December.

Pisces — Work, health and habits. You’ve had a lot of business the past few months, and will continue to work hard for the next several weeks. Mars in Leo is physical, so it’s a great time to start eating better and working out. It’s always good for a Pisces-influenced person to get out of their imaginations and into their physicality.

Alejandro Jodorowsky Explains How Tarot Cards Can Give You Creative Inspiration

Excellent article and video on the tarot by Alejandro Jodorowsky.

“The practice of cartomancy, or divination with cards, dates back several hundred years to at least 14th century Europe, perhaps by way of Turkey. But the specific form we know of, the tarot, likely emerged in the 17th century, and the deck we’re all most familiar with—the Rider-Waite Tarot—didn’t appear until 1909. Popular mainly with occultists like Aleister Crowley and Madame Blavatsky in the early 20th century, the tarot exploded into popular culture in the new age 70s with books like Stuart Kaplan’s Tarot Cards for Fun and Fortune Telling, and by way of cult filmmakers like Alejandro Jodorowsky.

jodoCARDS

Since its relatively recent popularization, “fun” and “fortune telling” have more or less defined most people’s attitude to the tarot, whether they approve or disapprove of either one. But for artists and poets like William Butler Yeats, T.S. Eliot, and surrealist director Jodorowsky—whose film narration is perhaps the most poetic in modern cinema—the tarot has always meant something much more mysterious and inspiring. “The tarot,” says Jodorowsky in the short film above, “will teach you how to create a soul.”

After studying the Major and Minor Arcana and the suits, and puzzling over the symbols on each card, Jodorowsky discovered that “all 78 cards could be joined in a mandala, in just one image.” Learning to see the deck thus, “You must not talk about the future. The future is a con. The tarot is a language that talks about the present. If you use it to see the future, you become a conman.” Like other mystical poets, Jodorowsky’s study of the tarot did not lead him to the supernatural but to the creative act.

And like many a poet before him, Jodorowsky explored the journey of the Fool in his 1973 film The Holy Mountain, a “dazzling, rambling, often incoherent satire,” writes Matt Zoller Seitz, that “unfurls like a hallucinogenic daydream.” Jodorowsky’s cinematic dream logic comes not only from his work as a “shamanic psychotherapist.” He also credits the tarot for his psychomagical realism. “For me,” says Jodorowsky in the video at the top, “the tarot was something more serious. It was a deep psychological search.” The result of that search—Jodorowsky’s singular and totally unforgettable body of work—speaks to us of the value of such an undertaking, whatever means one uses to get there.

Or as Jodorowsky says in one of his mystical pronouncements, “If you set your spirit to something, that phenomenon will happen.” If that sounds like magical thinking, that’s exactly what it is. Jodorowsky shows us how to read the tarot as he does, for psychological insight and creative inspiration, in the video above, addressed to a fan named John Bishop. Spanish speakers will have no trouble understanding his presentation, as he quickly slides almost fully into his native language through lack of confidence in his facility with English. (The video belongs to a series on Jodorowsky’s YouTube channel, most of them fully in Spanish without subtitles.) Selecting a translation on YouTube yields rather garbled results.”

June Astro Report

The Sun is now in Cancer, about to catch up with Mercury and Mars which are also swimming through the sign of the Crab. This brings attention to the home front and the deep, vulnerable parts of ourselves. Be generous and kind to yourself for the next month. Focus on self nurturing and the things that bring you a sense of security (and of course straighten up your house). There’s been so much fiery storming through Gemini the last month, this new water vibe feels purifying and refreshing.
Jupiter is moving forward in Libra, giving a huge, fortunate expansion to relationships and partnerships of all kinds. Saturn continues it’s backward trek through Sagittarius, asking us to review the growth we’ve made in our life perspectives over the past several months. Where is your faith and truth?
Uranus is in the last degrees of Aries, about to jump into Taurus. It will be another year or two before the Revolutionary planet trines (throws supportive love) to Pluto in Capricorn, but when it does, look out. We are in the throws of a decaying, outworn paradigm (Capricorn), and something fresh, earth-based and humanitarian is about to take shape. The old way of doing things cannot survive the upcoming radical change.

Although it’s challenging, we need to be honest with ourselves and grounded in reality. There’s simply no more chances for people or situations that diminish you.

Love and Lightning

Venus and Uranus were in an exact conjunction at 27 Aries yesterday. This noteworthy event happens every 225 days, and brings a fresh perspective to our personal relationships. Breakthroughs are common – both good and bad – and can show up the week preceding and the week following the aspect. So yeah, this new week upon us could reveal surprises and changes that can be challenging (but illuminating in the long run). Change is in the air.

So, how was your weekend? Did any shifts or insights occur on Saturday? The area where 27 Aries resides in your personal chart is where you will feel the effects most powerfully.

I had a funny, related experience. On my way to an event I passed an easy chair and a television in the middle of a street. They look like they had been thrown there by a strong force (Aries). Venus rules comfort and pleasure (i.e. the chair) and Uranus rules electricity and television (i.e. the TV). I wish now I had taken a picture of it!

Astro Report: Gemini season

Sun into Gemini: May 20th at 1:31pm.
New Moon in Gemini: Thursday, May 25th at 12:44pm.
Mercury is Direct in Taurus.
Saturn – Uranus trine at 26 degrees (Sagittarius and Aries respectively) TODAY.
Venus Direct in Aries.  Mars Direct in Gemini.

Silence of the Night

Silence of the Night, Reiji Hiramatsu

I’d say the big thing is this trine with Saturn and Uranus today. This is a harmonious connection between two complete opposites:

Saturn is reality, time, responsibility, history, discipline, commitment, stability, and the establishment. It is slow, solid change.

Uranus is revolution, invention, science, rebelliousness, genius, Change, disruption, electricity and awakening. It is sudden change.

So these two are having a friendly conversation today, which is interesting.  If you have a duality in your life, you might find some common ground today. The main thing is that Saturn will INSIST on any changes you make being well thought out and solid. In my view, Saturn is heavier than Uranus and so those energies carry more weight, BUT they will have to find a compromise since Uranus will not be silenced.

A new physical reality comes into view.
A revolution with a solid foundation.
A path to making aspirations into realities.

This is a good day to set some goals ❤

This trine is also happening in the fire signs of Aries and Sagittarius, which brings guts, confidence, self esteem and passion. Creativity and adventure. Composers, artists, actors, musicians and performers are ignited by this energy today. Let your light shine.

Who really was Aleister Crowley?

3328152_HULTON-ARCHIVE_97n-45-huty-9450-13-Aleister-Crowley-xlarge_trans_NvBQzQNjv4BqrUVett_h0D_BhWw1pzFNIFB76iOw3cQUOtb3RRSzrKs

Since 2012 I’ve been immersed in studies of Jewish mysticism and ceremonial magick. I absolutely love it. It’s a fascinating, endless stream of information and mastery. Maybe it’s because I’m a Scorpio and I just gravitate towards mysteries in general; it’s certainly a natural progression from being a white witch for 30 years… plus I love Led Zeppelin.

Anyway, because of my interests, many of my friends ask me lately – “who was Aleister Crowley?”

That’s a question that brings a multifaceted answer. There’s a lot of rumors and wild information out there that come from anxious minds with unsubstantiated stories.  What I’ve personally found is that studying Magick isn’t evil, and neither was this guy (although William Butler Yeats did think he was nuts).

For the curious that want a straightforward, mostly neutral description of him, this article published yesterday is informative, and I want to share it:

“On this day in 1904: the ‘wickedest man in Britain’ completes his manuscript for a new religion”

by Dominic Selwood

“Edward Alexander Crowley was born on 12 October 1875 to a well-off family of Plymouth Brethren in Leamington Spa. He was a willful child, and his mother nicknamed him Therion, the Great Beast 666, from the Book of Revelation.

After school, Crowley went to Trinity College, Cambridge, to read natural sciences. He devoted little time on his studies, and excelled instead at chess and mountaineering. At 22, he decided all was worthless except magic and the occult. He changed his name to the Celtic-sounding Aleister, and spent his spare time writing poetry.

He left Cambridge with no degree and moved to London, where he joined the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. There he met and fell out with the poet W B Yeats, who memorably described Crowley as “an unspeakably mad person”.

Armed with rituals from the Golden Dawn, Crowley moved to Boleskine House on Loch Ness, where he tried to work a summoning ritual for his guardian angel. His work was interrupted, and after a stint mountaineering and meditating in Mexico, he came to believe he was the reincarnation of the Elizabethan alchemist Edward Kelley, who had acted as a medium in the “spiritual conversations” of the polymath Dr John Dee.

In 1903, Crowley married Rose Edith Skerrett, and while on holiday with her in Cairo, started receiving dictation from a spirit named Aiwass. He wrote for an hour a day on 8, 9, and 10 April 1904, completing the manuscript’s three chapters in as many days.

The result was The Book of the Law, or Liber AL vel Legis, and it announced the end of the Christian era, and the start of the Æon of Horus. It is the central text in the practice of Thelema, whose guiding tenet is, “Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law”. Although Crowley was the first to formulate Thelema into a set of beliefs, the idea originated in Rabelais’ 1534 book, Gargantua, in which the eponymous monster built the anti-church Abbey of Thélème.

Over the coming decades, Crowley developed his experience of magic, the occult, drugs, and sexual liberation, earning a reputation as “the wickedest man in Britain”. He wrote poetry, articles, and books prolifically, but spent all his inheritance and earnings on his experimental lifestyle. He died, penniless, in Hastings on 1 December 1947.

Crowley’s memory was resurrected in the 1960s, when he became a cult counterculture figure, featuring as one of the faces on the album cover for the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. In 1970, Led Zeppelin’s guitarist, Jimmy Page, purchased Boleskine House, which he owned until 1992.

Aside from his considerable literary output, Crowley’s most enduring legacies are the principles and rituals of Thelema – which are practised by various occult groups – and the mystical Crowley-Harris tarot deck, which he designed, and had painted by his friend and disciple Lady Frieda Harris, wife of the Liberal MP for Bethnal Green.”

April Rewinds: Astro Report

17796141_10212292149602620_268123216521657910_n

Lots of retrogrades (and introspection) affecting us this month, giving us the chance to review our growth since the start of the year. We are slowing down, making sure we have solid foundations.

April 5th at 10:06pm (pacific): Saturn Retrograde in Sagittarius.
April 9th at 4:14pm: Mercury Retrograde at 4° Taurus.
April 10th at 11:08pm: Full Moon at 21° Libra.
April 15th at 3:18am: Venus (currently R) goes Direct in Pisces – exalted!
…and Jupiter Retrograde in Libra until June 8th!

And TODAY, Sunday, retrograde Venus in Pisces is squaring retrograde Saturn in Sag at exactly 27°. Partnerships are being seriously reevaluated this week. Relationships regarding love and business are tested to see if they can withstand the pressures of long term commitment. Saturn doesn’t fool around. Are you willing to do the hard work necessary to keep your pledge to another person? If yes, the relationship has a strong center and will probably be a lasting one. But if they are castles built of sand, they will diminish.

This is an important time to take inventory of what’s working and what’s not working, and to gauge the commitment level of each person. This tension will be accented by the Full Moon in Libra tomorrow, and Venus’s’ stationing at the end of the week.

There are four planets retrograding together this week. That’s pretty amazing! I can’t remember the last time this happened 🙂 In general, all of us need to:

  1. Re-evaluate things you’re committed to.
  2. Re-examine your VALUES and adjust if necessary. What’s most important?
  3. Start with getting grounded; take each day as it comes.
  4. Don’t expand into future worries – but deal with what’s in front of you right now.
  5. Be in the present.

The great RE-VALUE is here.

From Empowering Astrology:

“The planet of love and relationships has been retrograde since March 4. During this time we’ve had to take a deeper look at value, money, power dynamics, and how we connect with others. Retrogrades are merely times to integrate and reflect. The tide pulls in and out. Retrogrades are a yin phase, a time to reflect on the shadow. Venus Retrograde has put us through our paces and as it stations in Pisces on April 15, conjunct Chiron and square Saturn, we will have to face old pain around relationships and value and endeavor to move on to the next chapter of our lives.

Lastly, tomorrow’s Libra Full Moon will hit home on a lot of these deeper Venus Retrograde themes we’ve been sorting through over the last four weeks. Use the full moon to face or confront something you’ve been needing to confront. Use Saturn to set a boundary. Use Uranus to break from an old pattern. Use Pluto to leave something behind for good. Use Jupiter to have the faith that there is something better out there.”

Bob Marley quotes

Bob Marley inspired the lives of millions through his inspirational words and positive songs. Here are some of his most powerful words to live by.

1. “The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively”

2. “Some people feel the rain. Others just get wet”

3. “Don’t gain the world and lose your soul, wisdom is better than silver or gold”

4. “Love the life you live. Live the life you love.”

5. “Beginnings are usually scary, and endings are usually sad, but its everything in between that makes it all worth living.”

6. “Live for yourself and you will live in vain; Live for others, and you will live again.”

7. “Don’t worry about a thing ’cause every little thing gonna be alright”

8. “If she’s amazing, she won’t be easy. If she’s easy, she won’t be amazing. If she’s worth it, you wont give up. If you give up, you’re not worthy.”

9. “You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have”

10. “The truth is everyone is going to hurt you. You just got to find the ones worth suffering for.”

“Even after his death Bob Marley lives on through his messages to the world. He believed in equality, love and music and we can all takes these beliefs into our own lives. The next time you’re having a bad day or simply need some motivation, remember these quotes. Share with someone you know to send positive vibes their way.”

New Moon in Aquarius

infinity-one-jim-steranko-1970

Infinity One. Jim Steranko, 1970.

New Moon in Aquarius at 4:07pm Pacific.

The Water Bearer pours independence and revolution into the waters of humanity, and stirs things up. Aquarius taps into otherworldly information and brings it down to the Earth planes. Creativity is enhanced and the non-conformist awakens in each of us. This is the sign of Astrology, Science, Genius and Sudden Occurrences. There will be a lightning flash of revelation wherever the Water Bearer sits in your chart.

We’ve just finished up the Sun’s yearly transit in Capricorn – which is symbolized by the mountain goat’s climb up the mountain of wealth and prestige. With Aquarius, our inclinations turn toward each other and our communities. We are in the middle of Winter, and in ancient times we needed each other to survive until Spring. How can we enhance the lives of people living in Capricorn’s structures? What sort of reforms need to be created so that all people experience the full expression of their individuality and nature? How do we link the individual with the group?

Today, we forge our own path and do things OUR way, even if it goes against the grain of what society expects of us. Aquarius creates it’s own rules while seeking to support the greater good. It’s a very powerful sign. It’s an energy we can all activate in our individual worlds because after all, each of us is made of stardust.

Where do you need to be FREE? Following your dreams and taking a step away from stability can be frightening, but it’s never as hard as you think. You’ll end up with a huge, fulfilling and adventurous life.

Venus Square Saturn

Venus squares Saturn this morning, asking us to get serious about love and money. People can become guarded or melancholy, so it’s not the best time for deep conversations. Focus instead on doing chores and tackling things you’ve been putting off that NEED to be done! Especially cleaning the house, since chinese New Year is coming up on Sunday.

Mars enters Aries at 9:39pm

Mars is in it’s “dignity” in Aries – the sign it rules! What does this mean? A fresh vibe of energy, courage, guts and drive to accomplish whatever you want to do! This weekend is a great time to start new projects or habits. On the world stage we could see more sword rattling and environmental mayhem unfortunately. Soak in this new, energetic rush, but be careful about head strong behavior. Try not to be impulsive. No drunk dialing.

If you’d like a reading on how these aspects personally affect you, set something up on my appointments page! Have a great weekend!
