Friday the 13th is LUCKY!

Happy Friday the 13th!

Friday is Freya’s Day (comes from the Nordic Goddess Freya), and the number 13 used to be a sacred number in pagan times because it represented the number of Full Moons in a year – the number of times women menstruated. Doesn’t listen to folks that say today is “unlucky”… it is sacred to the Goddess.

Eliphas Levi’s Seven Planetary Qualities

Eliphas Levi, the occult author of the mid-1800’s, published many seminal works that became the cornerstones of early western mysticism. He illuminates the ancient roots of magical thought and tradition in a myriad of ways, but what I stumbled upon today is his presentation of the qualities of the seven traditional planets.

I refer to these attributes constantly in my work as an astrologer and Qabalistic jeweler. My usual source is Aleister Crowley’s 777, but Levi’s comments on the planets predate Crowley’s by many decades, and I want to share them here with you. What I found most exciting, is that each of the seven sins and seven virtues are related to a planet!! Here’s the seven traditional planets list from Eliphas Levi’s book, Transcendental Magick:

Picatrix

Screen Shot 2017-04-26 at 11.27.17 AM

Picatrix is the name used today, for a 400-page book of magic and astrology originally written in Arabic under the title غاية الحكيم Ghāyat al-Ḥakīm, which most scholars assume was originally written in the middle of the 11th century,

Picatrix: an ancient manuscript that teaches how to obtain energy from the cosmos”

“Through this ancient manuscript…the reader could attract and channel the energy of the cosmos so that a certain event develops according to the will of the practitioner, zodiacal magic; which is said to help master and dominate with accuracy—through the force of the universe—nature and its surroundings.

The Picatrix is an ancient Arabian book of astrology and occult magic dating back to the 10th or 11th century, which has gained notoriety for the obscene natural of its magical recipes. The Picatrix, with its cryptic astrological descriptions and spells covering almost every conceivable wish or desire, has been translated and used by many cultures over the centuries, and continues to fascinate occult followers from around the world.

The Picatrix was originally written in Arabic, titled Ghāyat al-Ḥakīm, which translates to “The Aim of the Sage” or “The Goal of the Wise.” Eventually, the Arabic writings were translated into Spanish, and eventually into Latin in 1256 for the Castilian king Alfonso the Wise. At this time it took on the Latin title Picatrix.

The Picatrix is divided into four books:

Book I – “Of the heavens and the effects they cause through images made under them”

Book II – “Of the figures of the heavens in general, and of the general motion of the sphere, and of their effects in this world”

Book III – “Of the properties of the planets and signs, and of their figures and forms made in their colors, and how one may speak with the spirits of the planets, and of many other magical workings”

Book IV – “Of the properties of spirits, and of those things that are necessary to observe in this most excellent art, and how they may be summoned with images, suffumigations and other things”

Full Moon in Pisces

19679155_1050077011794321_3864808135701748559_o

“Sirens by the Sea” by Victor Karlovich Shtemberg (1863-1921)

Sun at 19 Virgo. Full moon in Pisces today (Friday) at 9:33pm Pacific.
Mercury enters Libra just after midnight tonight.
Mars at 16 Virgo, and Venus enters Libra at 6:43am Pacific tomorrow morning.
Jupiter at 16 Sagittarius
Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto retrograding.

Happy Birthday to all the Virgos! Tonight’s lovely Harvest Moon is for you. It will be in the sign of Pisces, which represents inspiration, psychic sensitivity, compassion, mysticism, and connecting with the divine. We’re doing some soul searching this weekend; be open to messages you receive from the universe. They could come through your own thoughts or insights, something someone says, or a synchronistic event. Today’s Full Moon in Pisces brings actualization to that personal area of your chart. Meditate and reflect.

Virgo and Pisces are both signs of purity, but Virgo focuses on the body and healthy habits, while Pisces brings a purification of the Soul.

The danger of Pisces is engaging in escapism to avoid facing reality. If you are able keep your feet on the ground, Pisces brings huge spiritual strength. Try not to overindulge in food, drink, sex, shopping, alcohol, TV or drugs this weekend. Instead, be open to what the Universe wants to show you about your current path. Take a break from worrying and personalizing everything and see that you are part of something bigger. The ruler of Pisces is Neptune, and this planet brings connection to all the different planes of existence; the feeling that we are all ONE.

Eclipse at 28 Leo

ravn

Solar Eclipse at 28 Leo: 11:25am Pacific, Monday morning, August 21st.

New Moon in Leo: 11:30am.

Moon’s eclipse of the Sun will also TRINE Uranus at 28 Aries! Watch for fireworks. This is a major turning point in our personal lives, AND society at large. Events could change suddenly. Unexpected, hidden insights could appear out of nowhere next week. Eclipse’s can take awhile to manifest too, so the next six months could reveal more sudden changes.

On top of this, most of the other planets are currently Retrograde, asking us to review and reorganize the growth we’ve experienced over the past few months:

Mercury Retrograde in Virgo until September 5th: Reflect. Bring something back that you’ve had on “hold”. Revise, reconfigure and try a different approach or path.
Sun, Moon, Mars and the North Node in Leo. That’s a LOT of action where Leo falls in your chart. You can find your chart here, or set up a reading with me here.
Saturn stationing Direct next Friday at 21 Sagittarius
This eclipse is on the North Node (destiny), leading us to our future. You can get a glimpse of your future if you pay attention on Monday.

When the World falls under the influence of an eclipse, things are out of the ordinary. It’s an uncommon time, and we have rare and insightful experiences. It’s like walking around a darkened room with a black light – things show up differently, and we see things in a way we don’t normally see them. An eclipse can illuminate your path of meaning and life purpose, and bring a new phase of growth and adventure. It’s a hushed, quiet time when you can hear your Higher Soul speaking to you.

We touch the foundations of why we are here on this planet. Each of us gains some new insight or information into the life we are currently leading. This information can come through anything – our family, friends, a situation at work, or a bolt of lightning straight from the heavens into our consciousness. When it’s an eclipse, I pay close attention to what I hear, see and think, because there’s something synchronistic about it. No sudden moves though; think things through and give any revolutionary inklings time to take shape.

Check out the horoscopes below to see how this eclipse will affect you. Read your Rising sign, NOT Sun sign. You can figure out your Rising sign (or Ascendant) here

Aries — Let your creativity shine and your romantic side fully express itself. If you’re an artist, writer or musician this will be a fortunate time for you. If you’re looking for love you are likely to meet someone in the next few months.

Taurus — Hanging out at home is where you want to be. This eclipse lands in you House AND the bedrock of your soul, illuminating your personal psychology. Your personal life is at a turning point, and the next six months could see a change for the better. Be brave and seek counseling if needed.

Gemini — The Sun, Moon and Mars are in your favorite place! The 3rd house of communication, socializing, teaching and learning. Self expression is enhanced so explore your creativity.

Cancer — The eclipse signals a transformation with your money and values. Cancerians need security to feel stable, and with Saturn stationing nearby in a loose trine you should feel on top of things. There could be a boost with values and self esteem in the next few months.

Leo — Mars in Leo gives you the confidence to assume leadership of your life. You’ve had your birthday and you are shining. The fortune you’ve experienced the past couple of years is revving up for a finale, so make the most of this time. Be Bold and embrace the positive changes that are coming. Where do you want to go?

Virgo — The eclipse in Leo is in your 12th House of spirituality and psychology. It’s a time for solitude and contemplation. This house is also known as your “blind spot”, so pay attention and see if you’re repeating old patterns.

Libra — Time to socialize and solidify hopes and wishes. Where do you want to be a year from now? Mars is giving you the drive to make it happen. Bring your wishes into reality.

Scorpio — Your 10th House of ambition, public image, career and direction is foremost in your mind. This eclipse could generate a huge shift in your status. Your ruler Mars is active here and is driving you to work harder. The next six months bring recognition – you are out in the world and highly visible.

Sagittarius — Mars in Leo sends sparks of energy, drive and action to your ideas! Entering a new course of study might be appealing to you. Expanding your life perspective through long distance travel is also possible. Your focus is the higher mind.

Capricorn — You’re looking at issues around debt, credit and real estate… and sex and death too. The eclipse is in your 8th House, and you need to upgrade your views on these issues. This is doubly highlighted by Saturn stationing in Sagittarius next Friday. There’s some deep diving into psychological issues which will yield positive results around your birthday.

Aquarius — The eclipse inspires you to reassess your relationships… ALL of them. You’re redoing your approach to love itself. Look at your values and write a list of the qualities you’re looking for in a partner. A soul mate has appeared – or will be before December.

Pisces — Work, health and habits. You’ve had a lot of business the past few months, and will continue to work hard for the next several weeks. Mars in Leo is physical, so it’s a great time to start eating better and working out. It’s always good for a Pisces-influenced person to get out of their imaginations and into their physicality.

June Astro Report

752190e822d6661513c043d8447febaf

The Sun is now in Cancer, about to catch up with Mercury and Mars which are also swimming through the sign of the Crab. This brings attention to the home front and the deep, vulnerable parts of ourselves. Be generous and kind to yourself for the next month. Focus on self nurturing and the things that bring you a sense of security (and of course straighten up your house). There’s been so much fiery storming through Gemini the last month, this new water vibe feels purifying and refreshing.
Jupiter is moving forward in Libra, giving a huge, fortunate expansion to relationships and partnerships of all kinds. Saturn continues it’s backward trek through Sagittarius, asking us to review the growth we’ve made in our life perspectives over the past several months. Where is your faith and truth?
Uranus is in the last degrees of Aries, about to jump into Taurus. It will be another year or two before the Revolutionary planet trines (throws supportive love) to Pluto in Capricorn, but when it does, look out. We are in the throws of a decaying, outworn paradigm (Capricorn), and something fresh, earth-based and humanitarian is about to take shape. The old way of doing things cannot survive the upcoming radical change.

Although it’s challenging, we need to be honest with ourselves and grounded in reality. There’s simply no more chances for people or situations that diminish you.

Jupiter flyby

Unbelievable video of Jupiter released yesterday. I’m stunned. It is such a beautiful planet! Exquisite… just like the mysticism behind it.

Jupiter is going Direct on Friday, June 9th in the early morning.

“Every 53 days, NASA’s Juno spacecraft flies close to Jupiter and travels from the giant gas planet’s north pole to and past its south pole, shooting photos along the way. The eye-opening 2-minute video above was created using a set of these still photos.

Colossal reports that it takes 1.5 days for the 6 megabytes of photo data captured over 2 hours to be downloaded by scientists on Earth.

After the raw photos were beamed to Earth and made available to the public, Gerald Eichstädt colorized them, Sean Doran set the stills in motion, and Avi Solomon added some music to create the experience above — a taste of what flying over the gas planet would be like. The photos are color-enhanced, though, so what you’d see with your own eyes would be much more flat.

Here’s another colorized view created by NASA, Eichstädt, and Doran (and slightly brightened):

colorized-800x744

You can find more of these colorized images and videos on Doran’s Flickr. You can also follow along with updates from the Juno mission on NASA’s website.”
