Dark of the Moon: Week of September 4th

VENUS turned Direct in Leo this week, just as JUPITER turns backwards in the other direction. Both are stationing over our heads for the next 10 days or so. September is a bundle of retrogrades and cross currents. If you look below, almost every single planet is going backwards, with the exception of MARS, however this fiery planet is miserable in the sign of Libra (in his detriment).

The vibe this month is introspection – turning our focus inwards and checking in with our instincts. Retrograde planets have us rethinking everything, traveling over old ground, revisiting old choices and decisions, perhaps worrying, feeling helpless, and unable to get over things we need to release. Full Moon at 7 Pisces on Wednesday, August 30th at 6:36pm Pacific. This Full Moon is conjunct retrograde Saturn, so there is a sense of heaviness and responsibility to issues that are coming up now… and with seven planets in retrograde we are walking back through territory we have already passed through. The past is coming up and giving us a new understanding of our evolution.

Friday, 10:34am: Full Moon Eclipse at 15 Scorpio.
Avoid social complications and risky situations.

“The Holy Guardian Angel is more than the projected image of our perfected self, or the voice of our conscience. It’s more than the inherent, innocent knowledge of right and wrong. It is more than the divine ear that hears us when we look to heaven and pray ‘oh God if you get me out of this I’ll never do anything so stupid again’.

But what that ‘more than‘ is, is difficult to discuss.

“Get your angel and have him explain” seems to be the advice of the Abramelin ritual.

Nevertheless since Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel is of such supreme importance to the spiritual career of the of the aspirant, it might be helpful to see how the concept might be more clearly illustrated. To do this I will briefly review the kabbalistic principles as they relate to the fundamental document of hermeticism, The Emerald Tablet of Hermes.

Full Moon in Libra

April 6th, 2023: Full Moon at 16º Libra, opposing Chiron at 15º Aries
Also, Mercury conjunct North Node at 4º Taurus

The key word is BALANCE. This Full Moon puts the focus on our relationships – business and personal. Clear the air, forge new agreements, speak the truth, and put energy into the neglected areas of your life. If something has been standing in your way, now is the time to deal with it. Get it done.

With Chiron (the Healer) in the mix, our relationship traumas could come up. Face them and heal them – especially issues around codependency, trauma bonding and attachment wounds. Awareness, communication and healing are within reach! If we’ve been isolating, the Libra energy fosters reconnection with people.

Chiron shows us where to find the medicine to heal ourselves, and since it’s conjunct the Sun at 16º Aries (which is exalted), it’s about self-acceptance, motivation, and confidence. Refocus on your personal journey, and what you want to accomplish here on Earth.

On the same day Mercury conjuncts the North Node at 4º Taurus. This is the mind joining with destiny. There is insight into our future path or direction, however Taurus wants us to be grounded and in reality about it. How do we manifest our dreams? How do we make things happen in the real world? Taurus reminds us to connect with the physical world and use our five senses; what we see, feel, hear, smell, taste, and touch in front of us.

Making a talisman for a planet gives one the power of attracting the Seven Planetary Forces. Unfortunately these metals are extremely expensive, or lethal (i.e. lead and quicksilver), but it’s still interesting to look at these correspondences. They apply to writing with different colored inks as well.

Gold is the Metal of the Sun
Silver is the Metal of the Moon
Iron is the Metal of Mars
Copper is the Metal of Venus
Quicksilver is the Metal of Mercury
Tin is the Metal of Jupiter
Lead is the Metal of Saturn

The 7 Kabbalistic Signs of the Planets are:

Full Moon in Virgo/ Saturn into Pisces

March 7, 2023: Full Moon at 16 Virgo. The sign of the Virgin, which represents “being whole”, pure, and uncorrupted. It unifies our health and our work, and inspires us to live in integrity. Beware of the obsession with perfection and overthinking.

If you feel overwhelmed by this full moon, go over to the Pisces Sun on the other side of the sky for guidance. Reconnect with your spirituality, faith, and the god of your heart. Reassure yourself that you are exactly where you need to be right now, and cleanse yourself and your home.

Also today, Saturn enters Pisces. This marks a huge change in the undercurrent of our lives and society. Saturn is authority, ambition and power, and represents the institutions in our world, as well as the structures of our lives. Pisces dissolves what it touches, and erodes the stability of Saturn, so Saturn isn’t too happy in Pisces.

The best way to handle this transit is to be aware of the qualities of “sacrifice” and “surrender”. Use them to navigate the realities in your life. Surrender to discipline, to your basic needs, to the reality of who you are and what you want to accomplish. This will be a great few years to focus on bettering yourself, and supporting the growth of people around you.

We begin this week with a fallow, 4th quarter Moon. We are wrapping things up, finishing projects and adjusting to new conditions. This is the last week of the Sun traveling through Libra, and with the Sun and Venus squaring Pluto, we are facing the toxic sides of our relationships. There’s a New Moon ECLIPSE in Scorpio coming next Tuesday, October 25th as well. All of this happening while Saturn, Mars and Pluto stand still in the sky.

Wednesday, October 19th: Moon in Leo, and everyone wants attention. Sun/Venus both square Pluto in the morning, revealing the underbelly of relationships. Be gentle when discussing issues with anyone today. Repressed emotions and fears rise to the surface, driving us towards security. Also, Mercury opposes Chiron giving voice to the health and healing of deep emotional wounds. It’s a transformative day.

We had a brilliant Full Moon Sunday at 16 Aries, which delivers peak experiences with survival, exploration, physicality, courage, and our personal story. Aries is a feisty sign, and indicates a new beginning. If you saw the Moon, you would notice a huge star in the sky next to it; this is Jupiter currently retrograding through Aries. It expands the power and punch of this week’s energies. If you felt a touch of sadness over the weekend, Chiron was also on the Moon, which symbolizes our deepest wounds.

Meanwhile, Pluto moved Direct on Saturday, but will sit at the same degree for a couple of weeks. Pluto is a heavy influence for the rest of October. Saturn is ALSO standing still in the sky, about to go Direct on October 23rd. When Pluto and Saturn are both stationary and preparing to change direction, their energies grind down on us. It was the conjunction of Pluto and Saturn in January 2020 that heralded the pandemic, so we could experience echos of the last two years.

Wednesday, October 12th: Moon in Taurus goes void of course at 2:42pm, then squares Saturn and conjuncts Pluto in the evening. There could be some heaviness or intensity today. Energy will ramp up and move faster as the Moon moves towards Gemini. Remember what Lao Tzu wrote, “Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them — that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”
