We begin this week with a New Moon at 4° Libra, AND the auspicious Diwali festival of light! This New Moon is important on a spiritual level because it comes with Diwali, which symbolizes light overcoming darkness, and knowledge overcoming ignorance. It is a huge festival celebrated over several days, and is associated with Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity, and Ganesha, the god of wisdom and the remover of obstacles.

This New Moon brings hope, and has a spark of divine light. It occurs near the star Chitra, which is the star of opportunity. It brings the power of Vishwakarma – the deity of innovative designs and crafting. Also, Jupiter, the planet of luck and wisdom, has just entered Cancer! This is a high placement, and Jupiter is exalted, giving his wisdom and light in the most nourishing ways! It happens only once every 12 years too, so this is a great transit.

There’s a lot of potential and opportunity out there, but a lot of conflicting energies too. You feel pulled in many different directions. There’s possibilities for witnessing, listening, and hearing instruction from our higher selves. Illusions are destroyed. Watch and listen.

Sturgeon Moon: sturgeon were once abundant in North American lakes at this time of year. Full Moon rises at 22 Capricorn. She is in her detriment in Capricorn, which celebrates “getting ahead” more than being vulnerable. People become cautious and it’s hard to get concessions from authority figures. The energies of this Full Moon will unfold over the week ahead giving us peak experiences with our ambitions, career, and personal story.

We have a six planet alignment just after sunset tonight with Venus, Jupiter, Mercury, and Saturn — all bright and easily visible to the naked eye — and Uranus and Neptune, which can be seen with the aid of binoculars. Many falling stars this weekend with the Perseid meteors streaking across the sky.

New Moon in Taurus

New Moon at 11° Taurus. The Moon is “exalted” in Taurus, which means it expresses itself easily. This gives a calm, sensuous and indulgent feel to last weekend. The Sun in an earth sign brings up the issue of what we’re committing ourselves to, and if we need to update our agreements.

A new moon occurs every month when the Sun and Moon are in the same sign. It’s the beginning of a 30-day lunar cycle, and it’s when you set your intentions for the coming month. As the Moon grows, your intention grows in form and scope; coming to fruition at the full Moon two weeks later. Forming an intention is instinctual, since the Moon is black and there’s no illumination of the night sky. The Sun (the light) is also hidden, so we must ‘feel” our way, since we cannot see clearly.

The BIG change however, is that Rahu and Ketu have just entered new signs for the coming 18 months and are hovering at 0 degrees. This creates instability and uncertainty. Uranus is currently in Taurus, and it will shake up and change wherever Taurus sits in your chart. It’s probably an area that has started feeling stagnant; a corner of your life that needs some fresh air. Uranus brings liberation, and a new way of expressing the genius within you. Venus will be approaching Saturn this week, arriving exactly conjunct on Saturday, January 18th. This aspect is powerful, and will bring a seriousness to our relationships and creative projects. It will encourage us to get organized, disciplined and responsible with regards to art, music, groups and socializing. It could also support the folks in LA to begin the path of rebuilding their lives into a structure where they can flourish. Saturn rules houses, plans, structure, stability and focus. Venus also rules women, and the conjunction with Saturn can bring up worries and pessimism about relationships. Saturn demands that boundaries be respected and that communications are authentic. People need loyalty and space with this aspect. If you need to have a heart to heart with someone, speak carefully, with restraint and respect.

Uranus is stationing over our heads for several weeks, bringing many changes in direction for each of us. Uranus liberates from limiting ideas and relationships – he sets us free. Friday we had a New Moon at 15° Libra sidereal. It’s a new beginning for our relationships, friendships, and creative pursuits. Venus rules the sign of Libra, and unfortunately she’s not in a great position in the sign of Scorpio. In fact, most of the planets are in challenging signs OR retrograde, so now is a time to get organized rather than doing planetary Magick.

Mars and Pluto are in perfect opposition too at 4° Cancer/Capricorn. This means confrontation and potential violence. I don’t want to overly alarm anyone, BUT it’s best right now to turn the other cheek and avoid trouble with other people. This will be happening through the election and for much of November. On the good side, Pluto demands evolution and reformation, so you can rebirth yourself powerfully. Mars opposition to Pluto can move mountains and help you do the impossible, calling upon inexhaustible resources of energy. As an evolutionary planet, Pluto ultimately demands evolution and this may be a key theme over the next four weeks.

We have moved into October, placing us firmly in harvest season! TODAY we have a New Moon Solar Eclipse at 15° Virgo. If you have any planets in your chart near 15° Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces, they are being activated in a big way. Mercury is there too, conjunct the Sun at 15° Virgo. This is an exceptionally “Airy” new moon. All the energy is focused on language, the Mind, communication, honesty, truth, writing, community and focus. However, because it’s an ECLIPSE, the energies can be blocked. We need to take a step forward in a brand new direction today to access the gifts of this cycle. With the energy happening in Virgo, organizing our lives, rolling up our sleeves and getting to work are the best uses of our time.

Mars in Gemini is also throwing immense energy into the mix, since Mars is “drive” and Gemini is another Air sign. In Gemini, Mars lets go of his armor and becomes a social butterfly, focusing on communication, solving puzzles and battles of strategy. People with anxiety might need extra support during this time, because Mars adds electricity to our nervous system. A good place to focus your attention is on freedom and liberation. Making a talisman for a planet gives one the power of attracting the Seven Planetary Forces. Unfortunately these metals are extremely expensive, or lethal (i.e. lead and quicksilver), but it’s still interesting to look at these correspondences. They apply to writing with different colored inks as well.

Venus, Jupiter, Chiron conjunct in Pisces

March 1st, 2023 Venus conjunct Jupiter at 17 Pisces (Tropically at 12 Aries)

Venus and Jupiter are two of the most positive planets in astrology, and they both shine brightest in the sign of Pisces! Their true natures are easily expressed here, so this conjunction is particularly significant. Pisces is the Great Mystery; the sign of hope, and connection with the divine.

Venus is the planet of attraction, love, art, romance, friendship and parties. Venus is exalted in the sign of Pisces, so she is completely at home in the gentle sweetness of this sign. Jupiter rules Pisces, and the planet’s flowing abundance, riches and luck appear naturally here. Venus and Jupiter coming together is one of the most auspicious planetary aspects! It highlights how we have wisened up, realized new truths about ourselves, and opened to love. This is a time to trust your instincts, follow your wisdom, and stand in the truth. A miracle could happen.

As Venus and Jupiter meet, they will be two degrees away from the great healer, Chiron, which symbolizes deep healing and a new receptiveness to love, abundance, creativity and feelings. We might feel our wounds deeply and want to run away, but the key is to move towards them. Embrace your wounds, feel the pain, and say to yourself “I’m willing to heal this.” The conjunction with Venus will bring up our wounds around love, particularly our self worth. The conjunction with Jupiter could bring up wounds around wealth, abundance and self esteem.

I’m curious if the conjunction can be seen in the evening sky as one huge star on March 1st and 2nd. Go take a look outside and bask in the loving emanation. Breakthroughs and miracles can occur, so notice the Magick happening around you.

We begin this week with a fallow, 4th quarter Moon. We are wrapping things up, finishing projects and adjusting to new conditions. This is the last week of the Sun traveling through Libra, and with the Sun and Venus squaring Pluto, we are facing the toxic sides of our relationships. There’s a New Moon ECLIPSE in Scorpio coming next Tuesday, October 25th as well. All of this happening while Saturn, Mars and Pluto stand still in the sky.
