Saturn in Capricorn

cap1New Moon in Capricorn: 6:17pm Pacific on Tuesday, January 16th, 2018.

This is one of the most productive weeks of the last few years. Anyone feeling super focused, efficient and less tolerant of immaturity since December? That’s when Saturn returned home to the craggy mountainsides of Capricorn. It hasn’t been home in 30 years. What was going on in your life 30 years ago?

The skies are heavily weighted towards Capricorn these days. There are FIVE planets picking their way through Capricorn right now – six if you count Lilith and I ALWAYS count Lilith <3.

But the main event happens this Tuesday with the New Moon in Capricorn. We will experience a rebirth in our determination, ambition and grit – so decide which direction you want to point yourself 🙂

You are likely to feel highly productive, serious and functional. At the same time feeling intolerant of things you used to put up with – like bad relationship dynamics and situations where your contribution and authority were dismissed. Your denial of facts and reality has been blown away and you take yourself more seriously nowadays… down to your bones. The structure of your life will go through a giant overhaul in the next couple of years, and it will be for the better.

Rare Aspects

The Path, by Reginald W. Machell

“The Path” by Reginald W. Machell

There’s a rare and powerful aspect happening tonight that will impact the week ahead. The Sun, Venus and Pluto arrive at the same degree of 19 Capricorn. This could be a cathartic event for each of us, depending on where the conjunction falls in your natal chart and the aspects it makes with other planets.

The Sun is your soul’s signature and vision in this lifetime, and brings huge focus and importance to where it falls in your chart AND to where it transits. It’s the giant star that our solar system depends on – the greatest light of all. In conjunction with Venus, it stirs the passions of love and art. Although Venus isn’t completely “happy” in the sign of the goat, the Sun’s presence brings warmth, healing and abundance to relationships or careers that have become stale or stuck. Venus is love and money, and the Sun is fire and healing. ❤

But across the solar system, far out in the hinterlands, sits Pluto. Despite being millions of light years away, it lines up perfectly with the Sun and Venus creating a huge conjunction across our personal star path. Pluto is a dark planet (yes it’s a planet dammit), and symbolizes deep transformation, catharsis, toxic emotions, unhealthy patterns and buried treasure. Pluto (with Venus) brings up our deepest, hidden blocks so we can sacrifice them in the fire of the Sun. We dig through the disappointments of last year and clear them, so we can unearth the real gold buried deep within. What a wonderful to start the year and set the energy of 2018.

From Austin Coppock:

“The other significant configuration which occurs during this span of days is the conjunction of Mars and Jupiter in Scorpio. This is a fierce and triumphant conjunction, the proper mindset of conquerors and the seed of great victories. It brings optimism and relentlessness, and while it shines you will have the capacity to envision victories you are normally too modest to dream.

Take the regalia of the conqueror from Mars and Jupiter, and the clarified passion of the Venus-Sun conjunction, for they are exactly what you need to build the year before you. Do not rush to commit to half-ass, guilty resolutions. Clarify your passion and stoke your courage, for they are exactly what you will need to build the year you desire.
Give the skies time to offer you these boons. Spend the days of this decan receiving these empowerments and constructing your blueprint. Do not start building before the design is complete- give yourself at least until the New Moon later in the month to break ground. 2018 will not be kind to hastily laid plans. It will test even good ones, but has rewards of satisfaction and accomplishment waiting for those who can bring together passion, courage and patience.”

Happy New Year!

Full Moon in Cancer: 6:24pm Pacific.

Uranus Direct in Aries: 6:13pm, January 2nd.

Happy New Year! You can stay home, recuperate, and watch movies today, but Uranus is stationing above us about to turn forward (Direct) in Aries. Expect revelations, sudden changes, insight and awakening.

The influence of the Full Moon and Uranus creates a turning point for many of us at the beginning of 2018. We will have more support for sticking to our resolutions.

Winter Solstice 2017

“Lucid Dream” by Osman Taner Küçükgenç

Saturn into Capricorn: Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 7:49pm Pacific.
Sun into Capricorn: Thursday, Dec. 21 at 7:28am Pacific.
Mercury Direct in Sagittarius: Friday, Dec. 22 at 5:51pm.
Venus into Capricorn: Sunday, Dec. 24th at 9:26pm

Happy Winter Solstice!! Tonight is the longest night of the year. Tomorrow the Sun is reborn and the days start to grow longer. It’s a good night to clarify priorities for next year, feast with friends and jump over bonfires.

Saturn moving into Capricorn on Tuesday is the big news. We have wrapped up two years of defining, committing to and crystalizing our truth and philosophy in the sign of Sagittarius. I personally began a new path of deep, spiritual study, but this can manifest in your life differently. What’s been going on with the foundation of your life over the last couple of years?

Now Saturn moves into Capricorn, which is the sign of it’s rulership. This means the energies of the planet are free to fully express themselves and manifest their core qualities. Saturn is energetically heavy; it rules responsibility, maturity, your boss, foundation, structure, teeth and bone, wisdom, reality, time, your dad, achievement, your knees, career… and of course marijuana. Wherever you have Capricorn in your chart is the House where you will feel the strongest effects. If you’d like to schedule a 15 minute phone reading with me, you can do that here.

Meanwhile, here’s what Austin Coppock wrote earlier this week:

“Thus Saturn’s entrance into Capricorn in December of 2017 begins a period which is, quite literally, a gamechanger. The changes which take place during the next 5 years are naturally divided into two steps — the Capricorn portion coincides with the destruction of the old rules, the Aquarius portion with the design of the new.

Saturn and Capricorn
Before going further into the various themes which Saturn’s time in Capricorn entails, it behooves us to consider the nature of both Capricorn and Saturn.

Saturn is the slowest and furthest planet visible to the naked eye. It takes approximately 29.5 years to do one circuit of the zodiac. Just as Saturn is the limit of the visible solar system, Saturn is concerned with boundaries and borders. A wall both encloses and excludes, separating one space from another and limiting interaction between the two. There is thus a strong architectural element to Saturn which extends to all constructed systems, including human hierarchies and institutions. Saturn’s position in a natal chart yields information about how well a person does with structure, as well as how they react to, and wield, authority.

Being so slow, Saturn is also more concerned with time than the other planets. Saturn highlights the way it changes things, and separates the enduring from the fleeting. For living beings, time always leads to death, another fundamental Saturn theme. Relationships with the past and the dead are thus well within the Saturnian sphere. Saturn’s slow progression also illustrates the laws of cause and effect — how actions, over time, create reality.

Saturn is the Greater Malefic in astrology, as it brings deprivation, fear, excessive cold, brittle-ness, depression, confinement and exclusion. Yet Saturn also teaches the virtues of patience, discipline, endurance and duty, and shows us how to maintain glacial calm in even the worst conditions.

Capricorn
Capricorn, represented by the Goat, or Sea-Goat, is an Earth sign, meaning that it is primarily concerned with the concrete layers of reality. Earth signs prefer facts to speculations, a bird in hand over two in the bush.

Capricorn is of the Cardinal mode, linking it to initiation and creation — the beginning phase of story-arcs. It is thus the sign where the Earth is reshaped in accord with intention. Mud becomes brick, and bricks become houses. The wet clay, patterned with intention, becomes sculpture. Capricorn’s essential dynamic is thus the imposition of pattern onto substance in conformity with will.

This projection of design onto the materia of the real is in perfect accord with Saturn’s architectural intentions. It is thus no surprise that Capricorn is considered to be ruled by the leaden planet. For here, Saturn expresses himself in an unmitigated, text-book manner, especially as concerns the planet’s heavier and more manifest significations. In Capricorn, Saturn wears no disguise, but presents himself in an archetypal fashion. He is Father Time, the Grim Reaper, the Grand Architect, and the Old Teacher.
And Pluto, Too!

One of the more important factors to consider when differentiating this installment of Saturn in Capricorn from previous instances, is Pluto. Pluto will be in Capricorn the entire time that Saturn is. The two have one exact conjunction, scheduled for January 12th, 2020. Even though they are only precisely aligned on that one day, their copresence will shape the entirety of Saturn’s time in the Goat pasture.

Pluto will serve to further complicate and intensify already potent Saturnian themes. Their copresence emphasizes what has gotten lost in the underworld and needs to be rescued. Contrarily, it also points to badly aging patterns which desperately need to be read their last rites. Saturn and Pluto’s time together also specifically targets the United States, as this is Pluto’s return to the same place it was when the US was founded. Though fascinating, this particular point is beyond the scope of an already sizable article, and best dealt with in a space all its own. Look for that down the line.”

Mars into Sorpio

From Empowering Astrology:  “Mars moves to the final degree of Libra, pointing us toward critical relationship issues. The final degree of every sign has an urgency to it, a scrutiny that demands we hold ourselves accountable. Mars in Libra has been six weeks of digging into trust, intimacy, and cooperation.
Come tomorrow, December 9, Mars will move into Scorpio. It’s been my feeling, ever since Jupiter arrived in Scorpio, that we wouldn’t really know the true nature of Jupiter in Scorpio until Mars got there, too. With Mars in Libra, however, a lot has been simmering below the surface, just out of view.
Libra is Scorpio’s 12th House (intermediate astrology alert) and if you know the 12th House at all, the action is in the non physical and in the realm of emotion, dreams, and solitary endeavors. And if Jupiter in Scorpio has been dragging up all our secrets, our shame, the darkness we’ve been hiding, then Mars and Jupiter combined may be like a dam breaking. Something to keep an eye on. (Want to know what Mars in Scorpio will mean for you? Check out my sign by sign guide below.)

http://empoweringastrology.com/mars-in-scorpio-sign-by-sign

Ronnie Pontiac: “Also on Saturday at 1AM Mars leaves Libra and enters Scorpio. Mars is weak in Libra but rules Scorpio. Prepare for more ugly secrets about men to be revealed. Libido may turn less romantic and more kinky with Mars in Scorpio. The negative possibilities include vengefulness, underhanded moves, manipulation but the consequences may be surprising. Instead use Mars in Scorpio to explore. It’s good for catharsis and for transformation.

Next Sunday about an hour and a half after midnight Mercury retrograde trine Uranus is exact again. A great time for writing and other creative communication. Read something futuristic. Find new tech or new community that can help liberate you. Instead of lamenting what is passing find ways to prosper in the new environment that is arriving.

Also on Sunday just before dawn Venus square Neptune is exact. On the negative side this can indicate a strong urge for intoxication and escapism. Romance can be misleading, the typical rose colored glasses scenario. But this can also be a time of great artistic inspiration if you put it in the effort. Jupiter trine Neptune and Saturn trine Uranus can indicate the creation of masterpieces.”

New Moon in Scorpio

barneywitch

November 18: New Moon in Scorpio at 3:42am Pacific.
November 21: Sun into Sagittarius.
November 22: Neptune Direct in Pisces.
December 1: Venus into Sagittarius.
December 3: Mercury Retrograde from 29º to 13º Sagittarius.

Today is the New Moon in Scorpio and we arrive at the high point of Autumn – a time of regeneration and transformation for all of us. This new moon has the added spice of Jupiter in Scorpio, bringing good luck and prosperity to the “Scorpio corner” of your chart. If you’ve had your chart done before, find the House that begins in Scorpio. Look at your 8th House too. These are the areas of your life that will be expanded over the next year. If you need help figuring it out, shoot me an email 🙂

Scorpio is the area of your life where you want to go DEEP. You find your passion there, and are compelled to thoroughly investigate the matters ruled by that House. If you look at the last four weeks, back to mid October, you’ll get some insight on the area of your life that needs regeneration and change. Scorpio rules money, sex, the occult, healing and death. There’s a focus on getting our financial lives in order, looking for health insurance, wrapping up loose ends and preparing for 2018. Situations around sexuality, dating, relationships, commitment have come up, along with reproductive issues. And there’s the Scorpio witchiness of Halloween.

All of this is slightly complicated by Scorpio’s ruler, Mars, traveling through the sign of Libra, where it’s debilitated (not happy).

Mars in Libra is analogous to a warrior in full armor sitting in the middle of a tea party or a fancy dress soiree. He’s completely out of place there, feels awkward, frustrated, and can’t wait to leave. Mars in Libra has to slow down and focus on balancing the warrior’s grand designs with the desires of other people. He’d much rather charge ahead on his own. Along with the transformative quality of November, there’s a focus on relationships, and how to balance our goals with the needs of others. Mars will move into Scorpio on December 9th, and our ambitions will start moving forward again.

Also, look out for Mars in Libra squaring Pluto in Capricorn tomorrow (Sunday). Avoid bad neighborhoods, arguing with people, bad food and frustrating social situations. Doing something physical like cleaning the house, going for a hike or helping someone in need is the best way to channel this transit!

New Moon in Libra

14753291_1523648177651037_3362023874517964643_o

New Moon in Libra: 12:12pm Pacific on Thursday, Oct. 19th, 2017.
Libra is ruled by the planet Venus, which is currently in the Libra constellation. This is very auspicious for relationships.

Libra = balancing, union of opposites, relationships, entertaining, harmony, negotiations, Art and manners.

However, Venus square to Pluto, and in opposition to Uranus, makes the Love Vibe more about evolution and sudden events.

Pluto can bring up buried emotions and old, toxic issues to be healed and released. Uranus can spark revelations and anger out of nowhere.

If you’re angry or irritated with your partner, try and cool off before discussing anything. Focus on creating win-win situations in your personal AND professional life. If an area of your life is out of balance, give it some acknowledgement and attention. Most folks over-give to their friends and family, depleting themselves in the process. Some TLC for yourself is always a good idea.

The influence of Pluto and Uranus exposes issues or attitudes that need to shift. In my experience, it’s a good idea to not act rashly, but give yourself some time to process before taking action. Easy does it.

And then on top of that, we have Mercury and Jupiter in a conjunction in Scorpio – which happens once in 12 years. This aspect carries a lovely element of rebirth in our ideas concerning faith and truth. In the sign of Scorpio we want to talk about deep subjects, heal our emotional lives and explore hidden wisdom. If you’re an initiate or walking a spiritual path, this could begin a period of deep exploration on yourself and your thought processes.

Keep your social life light over the weekend! ❤

Decluttering: Swedish death cleaning

Great article. It’s not about Death rock though 🙂

“The ultimate purpose of death cleaning is to minimize the amount of stuff, especially meaningless clutter, that you leave behind for others to deal with.”

I never had kids, and I often wonder, what will happen to all my stuff? And to my Mom’s stuff?  When I started studying Feng Shui years ago, that was always the first assignment. Same with any occult practice: you can’t welcome peace, love and good fortune into a cluttered house! It just doesn’t work properly. Every object we own, big or small, has an agreement with us on an energy level, and ties up our energy with it. The strongest bonds are with unfinished projects, little scraps of notes, broken objects, old “to do” lists, unpaid bills, and clothes that don’t fit anymore. These things really drag our energy down or backwards.
I get such a freeing feeling when I deal with one of these thought relics – usually just one at a time. How fast you do it isn’t important, it’s just doing it. I try to deal with a piece of clutter everyday – just one – and I find I make good progress.

The time to declutter our stuff is now.

“Swedish death cleaning’ is the new decluttering trend

By Katherine Martinko (@feistyredhair), October 9, 2017

It’s not what it sounds like.

My mother used to be addicted to the thrift store. She went every week for no purpose other than to browse for deals. Of course she found deals, being the shrewd and careful shopper that she is — gold earrings, fine china sets, silverware, high-quality linens, kitchen appliances, to name a few. The problem was that these deals came home. They filled the house, packing shelves and occupying counter space, to the point of feeling cramped.

Several years ago, I said to my mother in frustration, “It would be a nightmare to have to deal with all this stuff if you died tomorrow.” She looked at me, stunned. Up until then, I suspect she’d assumed that everyone appreciated her junk-treasures as much as she did. What ensued, mercifully, was a house purge. Mom removed much of her stuff and ceased her weekly pilgrimages to the thrift store, avoiding temptation.

That conversation revealed to me the importance of discussing the long-term intentions for one’s belongings. If I hadn’t said anything, I suspect it would have been decades before my 50-something-year-old mother realized what a burden her stuff would be on the family someday — and just think of all the additional things she could’ve accumulated in that time. It makes me shiver.

Enter “Swedish Death Cleaning.” (I’m not joking. This is for real.)

The first time I heard the term, I thought it meant some kind of hardcore Scandinavian house-cleaning routine (they take a lot of things seriously there), where you scour your home from top to bottom to the point of physical collapse, as in “working yourself to the bone.” Well, I was wrong.

In Swedish, the word is “dostadning” and it refers to the act of slowly and steadily decluttering as the years go by, ideally beginning in your fifties (or at any point in life) and going until the day you kick the bucket. The ultimate purpose of death cleaning is to minimize the amount of stuff, especially meaningless clutter, that you leave behind for others to deal with.

A woman by the name of Margareta Magnusson, who says she’s between 80 and 100, has written a book titled “The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning: How to free yourself and your family from a lifetime of clutter.” She says she has moved house 17 times over the course of her lifetime, which is why “I should know what I am talking about when it comes to deciding what to keep and what to throw away”. Reviewer Hannah-Rose Yee, who practiced some Swedish death cleaning herself, describes it as being “like Marie Kondo, but with an added sense of the transience and futility of this mortal existence.”

Jupiter into Scorpio

Mopsa the fairy

Mopsa the fairy by Jean Ingelow, 1927

Kinda interesting that as soon as Jupiter moves into Scorpio there’s a giant reveal of Weinstein’s secret sex abuse of starlets erupting from the depths of Hollywood.
Watch for many more secrets to be revealed in the next year – in many different arenas.

As for your personal life, Jupiter was last in Scorpio in 2005. What were you going through then? This should give you a preview of what’s to come in the next year 🙂

And this excellent post from Chani Nicholas:

“On October 10th, 2017, Jupiter enters Scorpio. Every 12-13 months, Jupiter enters a new sign, teaching us how to expand through that specific sign’s style. This gives Jupiter, the planet that governs growth, abundance, good fortune and overindulgence, a 12 (or so) year orbit. This orbit is a growth cycle that we can track through our lives. Each cycle teaching us another layer of its wisdom. Each cycle teaching us a little bit more about our growth edges. Each cycle teaching us a little bit more about our potential to outgrow what has kept us small.

In astrology, the signs are the style in which a planet expresses itself. Each planet has a couple of signs that they do well in, a couple that they have a hard time in, and many that they are neutral in.

Scorpio is a neutral place for Jupiter. It’s neither good nor bad. Neither powerful nor harmful.

However, Scorpio has an extreme kind of style. Ruled by Mars, Scorpio is a sign that cuts through the husk to get to the heart of an issue. Scorpio will always search for ulterior motives. It is a sign that is both intrigued and intriguing. Mysterious. Powerful. Magnetic. Hypnotic. Powerful. Regenerative. Unfuckwithable. Here Jupiter will explore secrets and lies. One of our greatest flaws is thinking that there is an answer to everything. Jupiter in Scorpio reveres the mystery in all things. Here Jupiter will teach us about the healing power of the dark. The soil of our souls. The mud of our psyche. Here Jupiter will expand our access to the hidden realms. To the spirit world. To our ancestors.

Oh what a Samhain this will be.

While in Scorpio, Jupiter has no difficult aspects to contend with. No major scuffles. No opponents too threatening.

Thank gods. Scorpio is enough to handle all on its own.

The last time that Jupiter was in Scorpio was October, 2005 – November, 2006. After reading your horoscope, think about the kind of growth that you went through in that area of your life, 12 years ago.

Jupiter will be in Scorpio from October 10th, 2017 – November 8th, 2018

Jupiter is the spiritual, philosophical, and religious teacher.

Whichever house your natal Jupiter lives in is a place where you are asked to experience the lessons of expansion, growth, faith and the consequences of excess.

Jupiter in Scorpio sextile Pluto in Capricorn

Jupiter retrograde

Every year Jupiter spends about 3 months of the time retrograde. Since Jupiter governs our cycles of growth and philosophies of living, its retrograde period is always a helpful one where we can check to see if the growth we are experiencing is lining up with our ultimate goals.

Jupiter will station retrograde at 23° of Scorpio on March 9th and station direct at 13° of Scorpio on July 10th.

Mars will station retrograde at 9° of Aquarius on June 27th and station direct at 28° of Capricorn on August 26th.
