The wheel of the year has turned and we are officially in Winter and Capricorn season. The Capricorn goat knows how to survive harsh conditions and pick it’s way over an impassable landscape. It’s a season of miracles. The seed of the Sun has been planted in the time of greatest darkness, and will start to grow in daylight hours. Such a beautiful time of year. I love all the ancient traditions of light in the darkness. You can see it on our city streets today.

Capricorn represents ambition, self mastery and hard work. It’s ruled by the planet Saturn which teaches us responsibility and maturity – and that we will reap what we sow. I think these are great themes to keep in mind when setting intentions for the coming year. I don’t believe in New Year’s resolutions, but I do believe in working hard towards what fulfills us and makes us happy.

We had a wonderful Grand Earth trine this week too! The Moon in Taurus (exalted!) enhanced by Jupiter in Virgo, and made real by Pluto (and Mercury) in Capricorn (evolution). This gives a grounded, positive boost to anything we begin this week!

Have a wonderful holiday!

We’ve just had an astrological foreshadowing of 2016. The first square between Saturn in Sagittarius and Neptune in Pisces occurred on Thursday, underlined by Mercury’s conjunction with Saturn.

What does this mean? Our dreams receive a giant-reality-check-makeover.

All of this was further highlighted by Wednesday’s full Moon in Gemini.

Geminis, Virgos and Sagittarians REALLY felt the pressure to find clarity and the path forward. This is just the beginning! If we’re able to integrate this aspect we can find huge rewards down the road.

Saturn is the reality check. It is structure, discipline, maturity, time and timing. We reap what we have sown. Neptune is the planet of Magick and Belief. It’s the most spiritual and visionary of planets. It can awaken our consciousness or plunge us into escapist fantasies. The choice is ours.

When Saturn travels through Sagittarius, it brings a serious tone to our faith and inner truth. We need to follow a structure in order to experience freedom, walk our talk and apply ourselves with disciplined practice. Sagittarians around the world are becoming responsible in a new way.

Neptune is the visionary, and it’s natural home is Pisces. This dissolves our boundaries bringing vision, creativity, spirituality and music. There is no more separateness… we are all ONE. To quote Empowering Astrology: “Neptune does not entirely belong to our solar system. The view of life it teaches us originally belongs to other parts of the Milky Way.”

Neptune also brings the desire to escape reality.. leading us to drugs and distraction to escape the brutal realities of the world.

What happens when these two planets meet in a square? It’s an opportunity to structure our dreams – to make them real! This often happens through hard work which can be difficult for mystical types. As I said above the rewards are huge.

The other side is that illusions are shredded. People fall off their pedestals because their flaws become obvious. Are you playing out old, outworn patterns? Still going after the same people or situations that end up disappointing you? Time to snap out of it! If you’re lost in a fantasy or lying to yourself, the bubble will be burst in the upcoming months..

We’re in an interesting week astrologically. We’ll have a Gemini Full Moon tomorrow at 3 degrees and this one will oppose Saturn and square Neptune. We have some major things to figure out and commit to — things that must be in alignment with our hearts, our souls, and our higher good.

From Mystic Medusa: “This has been building all year, since last Xmas Eve actually, when Saturn first got into Sagittarius. A dream that you thought was sustainable and that was happening turns out to be based on quicksand.

A person you thought was your companion or staunch ally on the journey takes a side path away from you and you find out something dirty about them whilst you’re trudging onward. But there is no point berating them or even whining. They can’t hear you – your paths diverged a while back but you’re only now seeing it with Saturn Neptune.”

Full Moon in Taurus

Queen of the Witches

Hecate, Queen of the Witches

Full Moon October 27th, @3°44′ Taurus @5:04am Pacific

Halloween brings Scorpio Sun season, and the full Moon is the peak experience. The Moon is exalted in Taurus (expresses itself strongly) so feelings and situations can arise regarding women, emotion, sensuality, pleasure and culmination. Taurus is very committed to it’s partner, Scorpio is too but feels it emotionally.

From Mystic Medusa: “So it’s a Full Moon in Taurus, yes. So opposite the Sun in Scorpio – that alone can dredge up some grotty gunk from the bottom of anyone’s psyche even as you deal with infinite practical, Taurus-type issues. Will you ever seriously chill again? Get sex with someone sane? Perfect your nutrition? Etc.

But it is the square made by the Sun and Moon to Witch-Queen Hecate – in Aquarius since April and until December 29 – that make this Full Moon ultra-weird. Like you’re doing the muck raking, fine, it’s a Full Moon and giving yourself a stern talking-to re the practical crap but then WHAM – an electric-feeling, wild zap of an insight.

You could even call it a connect that you wouldn’t usually make, a slightly supernatural vibe. Halloween – which has devolved from the Pagan Samhain to yet another industrialized food touting faux festival – or a Full Moon involving the Goddess of Sorcery, Crossroads, Magic and the Moon...amongst many other aspects.”

Thoughts? Sorry and also…Feelings?

See Spirits of Nature: Venus 5 degrees Virgo

Venus is currently at 5 degrees Virgo. The Sabian Symbol for this degree is: “A man becoming aware of nature spirits and normally unseen spiritual energies.”

Have you noticed the spirit world in a peculiar way this week? This Sabian Symbol is active, AND we’re approaching Halloween. Autumn is the time of year when the veil between our world and the spirit world is at it’s thinnest point of the year.

Walk around in nature and take in the change of season. The air smells different, the light is lower… it’s truly an amazing time! Spirits are nothing to be afraid of by the way. They often appear on waking or sleeping or in the corner of your eye.

From the expert on Sabian Symbols, Lynda Hill:

“This Symbol implies strong feelings of another level of awareness around you. Your rational mind is, at times, being overshadowed by intuitive thoughts and feelings. Your imagination or spirituality is showing a clearer path to understanding and knowledge. Equipped to see the invisible, you penetrate into the mystical levels of life. There may be messages to bring back into your waking consciousness.

This can show a creative, attuned mind that can perceive subtle phenomena, shifts and changes in the environment. Tap into your clairvoyance, but don’t be thrown off track by it.

Creative fantasies. Fairy tales. Seeing things or just imagining them? Fantasizing about people or experiences. Attuned minds. Seeing entities. Fairies. Nature spirits.

The Caution: Confusion or lack of true perspective. Time wasted. Being a space cadet. Losing the plot. Mental institutions. Not being taken seriously. Schizophrenia. Skepticism.”

Full Moon in Aries

The Full Moon in Aries, and the fiery red eclipse, occurred last night after 7:00pm Pacific. It’s still happening though! An eclipse of this magnitude takes three months to roll out into our lives, AND the Moon is still in Aries today. The Full Moon is still in effect, and Aries is the most spontaneous sign of all – it leaps forward without thinking of the big picture.

The message? Don’t do anything impulsive today! Or this week! Give things some time to mature before taking action – preferably after October 10, 2015 when the Mercury Retrograde is over.

This is a potent unfolding of energy – inspiring us to find a new direction. If something doesn’t feel authentic then we will release it in the next few months. It’s time to finally let go of whatever is holding you back – whether it’s a thought, relationship or situation. Be bold and courageous and follow your heart!

Aries Full Moon and Eclipse

New Moon eclipse in Virgo at 11:40pm Pacific

There’s a powerful New Moon happening tonight at 11:40pm Pacific. It’s an eclipse which amplifies it into a major turning point in our lives. Think about what you would like to start and take some action towards it at this exact time tonight.

Because it’s a New Moon, setting your intention at this time will spark tremendous forward motion for you!

The sign of Virgo rules the digestive system – it represents the assimilation of knowledge. We become systematic and practical in defining goals and accomplishing them. Because Virgo rules details and accuracy, it also rules ritual magick. We neutrally examine our lives and put plans into action.

Virgo is the sign of getting your chores done and taking care of business. What is your first step of action?

Venus Direct: Love moves forward

This is a week of culmination.

The planet Venus returned to Direct (forward) motion on Sunday at 14 degrees Leo. Since June 22nd she’s retraced her steps – setting off a purge of toxic sludge from our relationships. It’s a 44 day re-calibration that happens once every two years. Each of us experienced a transformation of how we view our partnerships. There’s new clarity on what’s working and what not. Some people shifted out of outworn relationships and still others found a soul mate. We were forced to let go and allow the universe to guide us to our next phase.

We’ve gleaned wisdom from our depths.

Now that Venus is direct we can assimilate all these wonderful insights. It’s time to get real with yourself and what you really want – and with this event happening in Leo it’s OK to put yourself first. In fact it’s recommended you do that from now on.

Leo is the sign of the Sun and rules heart, meaning, playfulness, accomplishment and being noticed. Leo is the leader, wants the best of everything and demands dignity and respect. If you’re not getting your fair amount of stage time and attention in your relationship, then sit back on your throne and kick that foolishness to the curb. Embrace the Queen or King in you!

Assimilation is the key word for the rest of September as the Sun and Jupiter roll through Virgo together. They join up with the Moon this weekend for a New Moon Eclipse! This heralds a powerful rebirth towards achieving our goals.

This week is the dark of the moon… the prelude to Saturday’s eclipse in Virgo. Wrap up loose ends and prepare for rebirth. It’s time to clean up our mess and streamline our lives. Let go of people that suck your energy, and set boundaries with relationships that aren’t going anywhere. Dig deep.

Astrology of September: Virgo

Sun into Virgo at 3:37am Sunday, August 23rd, 2015.
The Sun is making it’s annual conjunction with Jupiter over the next few days, giving us a highly auspicious week! If you need some acknowledgement at work, a raise or even a new job – now is the time to ask for it. The Sun symbolizes authority, and Jupiter the jovial King, so the two of them in harmony can bring huge fortune and good luck to any activities this week. These two giants join Mercury and Lilith in Virgo – allowing clarity and focus in our thinking and aspirations.

And it’s just the beginning!

Jupiter entered Virgo a couple of weeks ago, sparking off a year of practical steps to achievement. If you have goals in mind, Virgo shows you the way to manifest them into reality. This makes Virgo one of the most powerful signs. On the challenging side, Virgo symbolizes doing our chores. Ugh. Who wants to do laundry, work out or clean the house? But we gain traction in our lives when we are organized and have our s*** together. That’s the truth of it. Basically, Virgo symbolizes “cleaning up the house” after the giant Leo party in July/August.

Interesting that the Sun moves into Virgo around August 21st every year; when people are returning from trips and kids are going back to school. Time to get back to work. Virgo is an earth sign ruled by Mercury, which encourages our organizational abilities (or the need to hire a friend who has them). Virgo brings crisp perspective, sharp decisiveness and detailed action. What does the foundation of your life look like? Do you need a health makeover? The devil is absolutely in the details and your daily habits. Show up for your schedule and do your best each and every day!

The Sun’s movement into Virgo means we have officially entered the harvest season. Burn gold and green candles for wealth.

Venus Reborn today

Today is a landmark event in the current Venus Retrograde. Venus crosses in front of the Sun – dies and is conceived in the same moment. Remember a few weeks ago when Venus was visible in the twilight with Jupiter? Since then Venus has been traveling lower and lower in the sky. The ancients view this as her “aging” or completing her cycle of the last two years. Today is the day Venus connects with the Sun at 22 degrees Leo – forming a tight conjunction. She is ‘reborn” in the Sun’s rays and begins her journey back to join Jupiter again. The Sun is the King of Summer, joining with the Venus, Queen of the Heavens. It’s a magical event – especially in the sign of Leo which is ruled by the Sun.

The Sun is our star – our source of light and warmth. Today is an opportunity for all of us to experience significant healing and growth. Our outworn ideas of love are burned away in the Sun’s rays. We have the chance to put aside old, zombie-type relationships, and create more room in our hearts for vulnerability and openness. The strongest light in our solar system penetrates every dark corner of our psyches and purifies us. We are reborn and join Venus on her travels as she moves towards becoming the Morning Star.

The planet Uranus is also involved in a trine with this event, giving us flashes of insight and shaking us loose from old patterns. A new life and mission begins. How have your values changed? Today is a reset. Reevaluate what has meaning for you – what you love and value – and let go of what you’ve outgrown.
