About RoseLyon

Rose Lyon is a highly regarded American occultist, psychic and healer residing in Sacramento. She began formal study of the occult in her twenties as a regular visitor to a local curiosity shop. She befriended a local Wiccan priestess who taught her astrology, magic and tarot. This led to her formal initiation into the Craft in 1988. She continued her studies by joining the Clairvoyant training program at Psychic Horizons, graduating as a reverend in 1993. With a hunger for art and history she enrolled at SFSU in the theater program where her training exposed her to the ancient connections between shamanism and theater. Majoring in Drama with an emphasis in World Religions, she studied the history of Greek and European theater as well as Women's Studies. She graduated with a BA in Drama & Performance in 1997. Since then she has expanded her occult knowledge through studies of Irish folklore, Chinese astrology, herbal healing and Feng Shui. She is an adept healer and psychic, and continues her practice of tarot readings, psychic healings and marriage ceremonies while studying Ceremonial Magick and Qabalah with the Temple of the Silver Star.

Music from the Moon

Astronauts on the Apollo 10 mission in 1969 heard mysterious, “outer space-type” music when passing around the far side of the moon, declassified transcripts reveal.

The spooky music is the focus of an upcoming episode of the Science Channel series “NASA’s Unexplained Files.”

The mission — which included Thomas P. Stafford, John W. Young and Eugene A. Cernan — was carried out two months ahead of Apollo 11, in which man landed on the moon for the first time.

While the astronauts were out of radio contact, they began hearing cryptic sounds through the module’s radio.

“The music even sounds outer-spacey, doesn’t it?” one of the astronauts said. “You hear that? That whistling sound? Wooooo?”

“Sounds like … you know, outer-space type music,” another of the men said.

The sounds continued for about an hour, and then they stopped.

Eugene Cernan, Thomas Stafford and John Young were crew members on the Apollo 10 mission.

The crew members considered whether to report the matter to mission control.

Recordings and transcripts featured the men discussing the music — but after the mission ended, and the craft landed safely in the Pacific Ocean, the evidence was deemed “classified,” and remained hidden in NASA archives for decades.

Research Says Talking To Yourself Improves Your Brain

Since we’re on the eve of a Full Moon in Virgo, check out this article from Higher Perspective.

277c5fd157af18edb997e816d21eb488“You’ve probably seen someone talking to themselves and thought they were really weird, right? Well stop thinking it and start saying it to yourself, because people who talk to themselves are actually pretty brilliant. Why?

They organize their thoughts better.

That’s right. Those who talk to themselves are better at organizing their thoughts and processing more than one thought at a time. They focus on saying their thoughts aloud in the hopes they can get a better grip on them. They actually have greater mental clarity as a result.

They have a better memory.

People who say things out loud to themselves are likely able to memorize and recall things better than those who don’t. It’s a way of reinforcing a thought inside of your brain.

Their brains are more efficient.

Some studies have indicated that talking to yourself helps you think quickly and with clarity. They found that when people talk to themselves at the store, they find what they need quicker than those who didn’t.

They achieve their goals.

People who talk to themselves, particularly about their goals, are more likely to achieve them than those who don’t. Saying it out loud helps create a laser-like focus on your goals and gets you closer to them.”

Rebels at the Beach

Andre the Giant at the beach picking up chicks

As I type these words, many of you that are reading them right now are probably in the midst of a pretty nasty heatwave. So I thought posting some amazing photos of people way cooler than us, looking even cooler than usual (with one or two amusing exceptions) while hanging out at the beach was in order.

You may have seen a few of the 24 images in this post before, but hopefully the majority will surprise you, especially the one of André the Giant literally picking up chicks at Cannes, or Albert Einstein (above) wearing some interesting footwear while the waves crash around his feet. Whenever possible, I included locations and dates of where and when the photos were taken as some were taken before the subjects became famous. Man, I feel cooler already. More reach-the-beach images follow.

World’s Oldest Melody

“Dating back to 1400 BC, this is the oldest surviving melody. The Hurrian songs are a collection of music inscribed in cuneiform on clay tablets excavated from the ancient Amorite Canaanite  city of Ugarit which date to approximately 1400 BC. One of these tablets, which is nearly complete, contains the Hurrian hymn to Nikkal ,making it the oldest surviving substantially complete work of notated music in the world. While the composers’ names of some of the fragmentary pieces are known, h.6 is an anonymous work.”

From Youtube: The Oldest known musical melody performed by the very talented Michael Levy on the Lyre. This ancient musical fragment dates back to 1400 B.C.E. and was discovered in the 1950’s in Ugarit, Syria. It was interpreted by Dr. Richard Dumbrill. He wrote a book entitled “The Archaeomusicology of the Ancient Near East.” Here is a link to it:

There were 29 musical texts discovered in the ruins of Ugarit, but only text H6 was in good enough condition to allow for academic interpretation. Here is Dr. Dumbrill’s interpretation:

Here’s 10 Incredible Gnostic, Alchemical and Occult Mandalas

Here’s 10 incredible and mind-expanding mandalas drawn from Alchemy, Gnosticism, Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and the Occult

Source: Here’s 10 Incredible Gnostic, Alchemical and Occult Mandalas

“Mandalas are sacred, esoteric diagrams that are present in almost all world religions. They’re often meant to represent the entire cosmos, or the role of divinity in the world. As such, they can be incredible aids to meditation and self-discovery: Either by contemplating them, or even drawing or painting them yourself. The psychologist Carl Jung was a connoisseur of mandalas—not only writing about them, but painting them, as well, as we see in the image below from his famous Red Book. Jung, who was fascinated by alchemy and Gnosticism, felt that mandalas could lead the way to psychological wholeness.

Below, check out nine incredible mandalas drawn from some of the world’s religious traditions—alchemy, Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism and more. (The first mandala is even by Jung himself.) Whether you’re a believer or not, you’ll certainly be impressed with the ornate beauty of these artistic creations.”

New Moon in Aquarius

12642467_1289732594375931_1145259343816309353_n

Wisteria, herb of Aquarius

New moon was exact this morning at 6:39 am Pacific at 19 degrees Aquarius.

Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius, is in good aspect to this new moon, inspiring us with new ideas and energy. Very creative day where we push boundaries and walk on the wild side.

Mars in Scorpio (squaring the New Moon) is pushing us to take action too. Lilith in the mix too helps us access our instincts.

Be revolutionary.

The beauty of being alone

“I like to show women who exist in solitude but do not suffer,” Candelas said. “They are not depressed or crying. Rather [they] are safe, exalting in the sense of enjoying the company of just herself.”

“Of course, that’s not what we generally assume. Being alone often has a sad stigma attached to it, with some researchers going so far as to say too much alone time could actually be deadly (because some researchers are drama queens) because humans need a certain amount of social interaction. Yet plenty of people swear by how much pleasure doing things alone can bring, with some research suggesting it could actually be good for us.”
