Jaco Putker

Excellent write up on Dangerous Minds about an interesting artist, Jaco Putker.

“BOYS AND GIRLS COME OUT TO PLAY: THE STRANGE, SURREAL, AND PHANTASMAGORICAL WORLD OF JACO PUTKER

Putker has won several awards for his highly distinctive artworks which have been exhibited across the world from Tokyo to Chicago, China to Britain. He claims he has no one influence on his work but cites an abiding interest in “Nature and in how nature works, in its perfection and self-reliance and its power of rejuvenation and destruction. In how it has a profound effect on not just me, but on virtually every human being.”
I’m interested in the Hermetic Principles of Correspondence (formulated in the axiom ‘As Above, So Below’; the correlation between macro and micro cosmos) and of Vibration (which states that all is in constant motion. Both in a visually perceivable manner as on a (sub)atomic level. Every part of nature is connected to any other part of nature. These seem to be the parameters within which my work takes place. But within these parameters, I try not to think too much about my work. Defining it sort of kills it for me. In hindsight, I see a development and recurring themes and elements. And it strikes me that I seem to be saying the same thing over and over, regardless of style, medium or technique.
A selection of f Jaco Putker’s prints are available to buy here and more of his work can be found here.”

Dark of the Moon

This week is the dark of the Moon. We spiritually “gestate”, as we turn towards the New Moon in Leo + Solar Eclipse on Monday at 11:25am Pacific. This is SUCH a roiling, wild ride. Mars (aggression, battles) and the North Node (the future) are closely escorting the Sun through the last degrees of Leo towards it’s eclipse. Emotions are running high as you can tell by watching five minutes of news. We are fighting for the future we want in our personal lives AND for our country. This eclipse runs across the US, and the degree of 28 Leo symbolizes an embattled leader. Check out Austin Coppock’s post for more info on society at large.
Personally, we don’t have to buy into the tension. This is the black of the Moon, and it’s a week of rest. That’s the best way to prepare for the fireworks on Monday – just rest, detach from stressful situations and allow your mind to wander. Mercury retrograding through Virgo asks us to review our goals and re-prioritize our lives. The best use of your energy this week is to do some research, take on tasks you’ve been avoiding, tie up loose ends and get organized. Try to sit with what life is bringing you right now, and what it reflects regarding your evolution. Begin things anew after Monday.

New Moon in Taurus

We are experiencing a wonderful astrological portrait right now. The planet Venus (Love) is exalted and moving Direct in her happiest place – Pisces. On top of the that we are in the orb of the New Moon in Taurus yesterday (the sign of Love, commitment and Spring). We are four days from Beltane, which is the sexiest of the pagan holidays (May 1st). The world is harmonious: Art, Love, design, pleasure, appreciation of beauty are highlighted.

So get out there and enjoy yourself!

Sorry I can’t write more right now, but I’m taking this astro opportunity to build love charms and necklaces from peach moonstone and pink tourmaline. They will soon be for sale so watch this space 🙂

All the Best and Much Love,

Elizabeth Rose

Unknown Artist

“Silent in space forgotten among the stars early awakened to grace our heavenly hopes, she who is a planet as star a burning beginning a mental held sphere, that now has billions of hearts to adorn and adore,

but what is the future to those who care not, who seek to be just compost, the bloody war forgot, what of the animal, plants and the trees, what of the ones who wanted not war but peace to see…

greed killed the future, and replaced it in a plastic coffin so all could die and choke on the forgotten..build as we will and reach as we might, humanity of her is what we should fight for and fight fight fight,

so call her gaia, some call her mother earth, but until we can exist on another world…. we own nothing but dirt… so serve your mistress and mother alike, because in the end time doesn’t stop, nor will it rewind……”

Autumnal Equinox: Astro weather

Happy Autumnal Equinox! Mabon is the second harvest festival of the year and signifies the Sun’s entrance into Libra. It’s an ancient celebration of equal day and equal night!  We are at a balance point – from here the days grow shorter.

Equinox, Wednesday, Sept. 23rd, 2015: Sun enters Libra at 1:21am, Moon in Aquarius. Our focus for the next month is on relationships, balance, art and beauty. With Venus in Leo trining Uranus in Aries there’s a strong desire for authenticity. Expect flashes of insight regarding the important people in your life. It’s a breath of fresh air.

Today is the last day of the Sun in Virgo, so wrap up any loose ends regarding health, details and organization. Mercury is currently retrograde at 14 degrees Libra, near to Lilith and squaring Pluto (and the Moon in a couple days), so this is a cathartic cleansing allowing us to evolve emotionally.

AND Pluto is stationing (standing still) in the skies preparing to turn Direct on Friday. All the deep work we’ve been doing on ourselves the past few months is now put into practice. Pluto helps us clear any toxic blocks we have between our conscious life and our souls, allowing us to lead more meaningful lives.

The other big news this week is the build up to Sunday’s Lunar Eclipse in Aries. It’s going to be very intense – particularly with relationships. Mars in Virgo will be squaring Saturn in Sagittarius (both at 0 degrees!) and the Moon in Pisces, creating tension and an urge to take action. The vibe is pragmatic though… take your time and think things out carefully.

Avoid touchy people and challenging social situations! Much better to stay at home with a good book or movie. The focus is more on Saturn’s stability and discipline and building foundations that stand the test of time. That goes for people in your life too. Surround yourself with people on your wave length that are trustworthy and authentic.

Why get a reading?

I find when I give a person a reading, I help them clarify their thoughts and find the direction that serves them best with their present circumstances. For me, it’s sometimes less about being “psychic” and more about READING ENERGY in the PRESENT. We create our futures by focusing on the next step of this moment. What path will you choose of the hundreds set before you?

“The true power of a reading is to help you see how you are creating your future right this minute. Where you are now and the choices you have are the results of decisions you’ve made before-it’s all about choices.”

True history of the word “Virgin”

Image

“Ancient moon priestesses were called virgins. ‘Virgin’ meant not married, not belonging to a man – a woman who was ‘one-in-herself’. The very word derives from a Latin root meaning strength, force, skill; and was later applied to men: virile. Ishtar, Diana, Astarte, Isis were all called virgin, which did not refer to sexual chastity, but sexual independence. And all great culture heroes of the past, mythic or historic, were said to be born of virgin mothers: Marduk, Gilgamesh, Buddha, Osiris, Dionysus, Genghis Khan, Jesus – they were all affirmed as sons of the Great Mother, of the Original One, their worldly power deriving from her. When the Hebrews used the word, and in the original Aramaic, it meant ‘maiden’ or ‘young woman’, with no connotations to sexual chastity. But later Christian translators could not conceive of the ‘Virgin Mary’ as a woman of independent sexuality, needless to say; they distorted the meaning into sexually pure, chaste, never touched.”
